From the topic, maybe you would be confused about what the book would like to tell us. “Pyjamas”? Is it about sleeping, or a boy's normal daily life? When you open the book and start reading, you will gradually work it out. You would come to a little boy’s life and go with his angle of view. When you keep reading, you may find something new. Is the clothes they wear really “pyjamas” and what the number on it means? The book is a historical dramatic novel written by John Boyne in 2006. The story happened during the World War II, based on the background of Hitler, the Fuehrer, dominated Germany and created concentration camps all over Europe to exterminate Jews, considered inferior to the rest of the human beings. This book actually is the story describing what was happening to the people’s life during that period of time we all don’t want to see back, since that would be too oppressive to talk about. The story began because of the job changing of the main character’s dad and there home moving from Berlin to the workplace of his dad, which is close to a concentration camp. Our main character made a close friend who is from inside the camp. Of course, young children in this story may never clearly understand what’s going on and what the war means, but the readers do. The readers may feel that it is a story that is overweight. The book was also made into a movie in 2007, and after finishing watching the movie I compared it with the book, they have some small differences. In my point of view, maybe it is owing to the expressive force of the movie scene, so I feel that the movie touches me more. And also I feel that the writing of the book is sometimes has too much depicting on the internal activity of the characters, especially Bruno, also may have some too much unnecessary describing of how the things are going on. For example, the last chapter of the book was not be expressed in the movie, and the book gave us the ending of the story directly instead of giving out an open ending like in the movie. I would say I prefer to have an open ending also in the book. But all of theses may owing to the different way of expression of literature and filming.
