Driver shall have valid SA driving license and he should be engaged
after getting proper HSE Induction, defensive driving training.
Enforcement of traffic regulations.
Strictly follow speed limit.
Safe access shall be maintained at site for vehicles and equipment.

Storage tanks and dispenser pumps are adequately maintained and
monitored
Appropriate stock management procedures are used
Identify hazardous areas and control all sources of ignition - use
appropriate warning and hazard signs
Ensure appropriate type Spill Kit and Fire extinguisher is available
Clean up all fuel spills immediately and discard HAZ waste according
to related procedures
Follow the instruction given on safety signage
Reduce the vehicle speed at the speed bumps on the road

of the work vehicle and keep the nozzle in contact with the fuel tank’s
inlet tube to dissipate the build-up of static electricity that could cause
a spark

Remove fuel cap on machine and wait for any air pressure to vent
from the tank
Insert the fuel nozzle into the fuel tank ensuring that the nozzle is fully
inserted into the fuel port
Pump fuel at allowable rate always remaining in position with one
hand on the nozzle
When tank is full release nozzle and position the nozzle in upright
condition
Delivery hoses will be turned off and locked when not in use.
Hoses and valves will be inspected regularly
Drip tray is to be placed under discharge nozzle
Refueling line should be kept as short as possible
To stop pumping before any fuel overflow
The filling/refueling process will always be attended by competent
person
Required stocks of spill absorbents shall be maintained
Appropriate Fuel pump must be used for dispensing fuel
Water pump should not be used for dispensing fuel
The equipment’s/vehicle shall be turned off prior to commence
refilling/refueling

Electrical Hazards

Appropriate type PPE and RPE are provided

All electrical equipment used out of doors should be suitably
insulated and should be supplied through a Residual Current Device
All electrical switchgear controlling machinery should always be
clearly labelled and readily accessible.
The fuel dispensing truck and storage tank/equipment’s shall be
grounded.
Nobody shall not reenter the equipment/vehicle while refueling or if
necessary, shall make contact with the body of the
equipment/vehicle, which is grounded; for discharging the
electrostatic charges.
Appropriate fuel pump must be used for dispensing fuel.
Water pump should not be used for dispensing fuel
Filling and Refueling personnel must wear FRC coverall & face shield
while filling & Refueling





Let the fuel nozzle drain for a few seconds before removing
Remove nozzle slowly avoiding any spills or drips
Wipe any residue fuel from tank port
Position the nozzle in upright condition

Avoid lifting items which are too heavy - use a trolley or castors

Personnel to be trained in oil spill cleanup and safe disposal
