WIRES AND CABLES
INSTRUMENTATION & THERMOCOUPLE CABLES
BASIC CABLE CONSTRUCTION
The aim of cabling fibers is to provide adequate protection during cable installation
and service to ensure that transmission properties remain stable throughout the life
of the system. The overall design of an optical fiber cable depends upon the
environmental conditions in which the cable is to be employed. as well as installation
and service conditions. The optical fiber cable is a complicated composite cylindrical
structure. In general the cable consists of the following six major components.
(1) The loose tube/ tight buffer. made up of polybutylene terephthalate/
thermoplastic elastomer.
(2) The central strength member (epoxyl glass rod or steel strands) acts as a
strengthening element. and enables the cable to be held under tension at low
strain.
(3) The peripheral strength member (Aramidi Glass yarns) to supply the principal
tensile strength to the cable during installation and to withstand
everyday
stress experienced by the cable.
(4) Steel Armouring. corrugated transversly, is provided for giving lateral strength
and bending flexibility to the cable. It makes the cable rodent and termite proof.
(5) Filling gel, flooding gel. water blocking tape and moisture barrier tape are
provided for protecting the cable from moisture and water.

Armoured cables can be offered with steel wire & corrugated polymer coated steel
tape armouring. All dielectric self supporting type & figure 8 type aerial cables are
also available.
(6) An outer jacket (generally polyethylene) for providing necessary mechanical and
environmental protection to the cable.

QUALITY ASSURANCE
With our highly skilled and qualified

is ensured that consistently high quality
Optical Fiber Cables are delivered to the
customers. Continuous quality checks
during
m a nu f a c t u r in g
and
comprehensive cable tests guarantee the
quality, reliability and performance of the
cables during installation and operation.
Tests are conducted as per international
standards (IEC, ITU - T, EIA/ TIA), and to
meet customer specific requirements.
After conducting various mechanical
and environmental tests the results are
evaluated to guarantee the integrity of
transmission through optical fibers in the
cable.
Tensile stresses can occur during cable
installation time. These stresses must not
affect the functioning of optical fiber.
Finished cables are type tested on tensile
testing machine to measure fiber strain, "
E
f' cable strain “Ec" and change in
attenuaton as a function of tensile
load "F".
Optical cables are subject to a wide variety of temperatures (-40" C to +70"C) during
operation and storage. These changes should not affect the optical transmission in
the fibers. In order to determine the performance of the cable over this wide
temperature range, finished cable is put in a computer controlled climatic chamber
and change in attenuation is measured by OTDR, as a function of
temperature cycles.
Beside these tests, all our cables are type tested for Impact resistance, Crush
resistance, Torsion and repeated bending. Statistical quality control techniques are
implimented to verify the consistency in product quality and continuously monitor the
performance of the cable.

DESCRIPTION
The tight buffered optical fibers are assembled around the CSM. Which is possess
excellent dielectric properties & high resistance to elongation & shrinkage. Aramid
yarns serves as peripheral strength member. The outer sheath is made up of flame
retardant halogen free copolymer compound. The cable is available up to 12 tight –
buffered SM/MM optical fibers.

DESCRIPTION
The cable has been designed for outdoor underground (Direct – Burial) application.
The PBT loose tubes prevent the optical fibers from axial or radial stresses by
allowing free movement of fibers within the tube. Each loose tube (filled with high
quality thixotropic gel) contains a maximum of 12 fibers. The cable is well guarded
to protect optical & mechanical characteristics of the fibers. The outer jacket has
been specially designed to be moisture ultraviolet & fungus resistant.

APPLICATION
DESCRIPTION
The cable has been designed for underground laying. It is a loose tube construction.
The gel filled loose tubes are stranded around FRP Central Strength member and
the cable core is flooded with flooding gel. The aramid or glass yarns put over the
cable core supplement the tensile strength provided by FRP. Steel tape armouring,
corrugated transversely, forms an integral bonded part of the armoured cable.

DESCRIPTION
The Hybrid cable shall be tailor made to suit customer requirements.
The cables are designed for underground application. Copper conductors (twisted
pairs, co-axial cables, power feed conductors etc.) and loose buffer tubes containing
optical fibers are assembled around dielectric central strength member. Rest of the
cable follows general constructional details for loose tube fiber optic cables. Both
halogen –free and standard polyethylene jackets can be provided.

ACSR OVERHEAD CONDUCTOR
Aluminum conductor steel reinforced (ACSR)
Applications
ACSR is being universally used for the transmission of electric power over long
distances. It is also used as a messenger to support overhead electrical cables.
Features
Ideal combination of conductivity and strength to permit longest possible spans.
Minimum sag between supports with fewer towers required.
Description
Concentric lay stranded conductors made from round aluminium wires and round
zinc-coated steel (*) core wires constructed in accordance with ASTM 8232 (**).
Wide variety of sizes available in long lengths to suit both electrical and mechanical
design requirements. Good corrosion resistance
To order
Construction
Central core
Order by catalogue number, code word, quantity required.
A zinc-coated solid steel core wire according to ASTM 8498 or a zinc-coated
stranded steel core according to ASTM B500.
Example
SXX1-A3X code word 'Minorca", 14,000 m.
Outer layers
Aluminium wires 1350-H19 EC grade to ASTM 8230 concentrically laid up over the
central core.
* Aluminium-clad steel core wire per ASTM 8502 is also available.
** Also available in accordance with IEC209, 8S215 part 2 and DIN 48204.

WIRES AND CABLES
Aluminum clad steel reinforced
(ACSR/ AW )
Applications
ACSR / AW is being universally used for the transmission of electric power over
long distances. It is also used as a messenger to support overhead electrical
cables.
Features
Description
Concentric lay stranded conductors made from round aluminum wires and round
aluminum-clad steel core wires constructed in accordance with ASTM B549.
ACSR I AW incorporates aluminum clad steel wires ( AW wires) combining high
tensile strength of steel with high conductivity and high corrosion resistance (nongalvanic corrosion between aluminum wire and core wire).
This conductor offers reduced power loss and makes economical overhead transmission system .
Construction
To order
Central core
A round aluminum-clad steel core according to ASTM B502.
Order by catalogue number, code word, quantity required.
Outer layers
Example
VXX1-P4X code word 'Penguin/ AW 14,000 m
Aluminum wires 135O-H19 EC grade to ASTM B230 concentrically laid up over
the central core
