1. PURPOSE
to ensure that calibration and maintenance of donors' blood volume
and shaker regulator are properly performed at recommended
intervals and to help the facility assesses equipment functionality,
manage defective equipmen! and identiff equipment needing

The PFKCC blood bank poliry is to ensure that Electronic Blood
Collection Mixer is maintenance and calibrated will follow manufacturer's
instructions
5. PROCEDURES
5.1.
Any suspected equipment failures shall be reported to the Biomedical
DepL
5.2. Un-calibrated equipment shall not be used for donation.
5.3. To operate the equipment, manufacturer's procedure manual shall be
followed.
5.4. Initial settings and default Factory parameters will be set up by
manufacturer's Representative or Biomedical Representative and as per
Manufacturer's Manual.
5.5. Weekly cleaning and decontamination shall be performed to the used
equipment
5.6. Periodically check the integrity ofbattery pack

5.8 Cleaning:

Remove the bag tray and clean carefully with a detergent or
disinfection solution
Clean the clamp with a humid gauze or cloth and remove all
particles present inside.
Note: Be careful not to drop any liquid inside the central hole.
Do NOT use pure alcohol, acetone or
harmful for plastic or paint.

5.9 Decontamination:
5.9.1 Decontamination is an emergency procedure that must
be
done only in case of real need.
5.9.2
lf the equipment contaminated with blood require
decontamination. Obvious spills on equipment cleaned up
immediately with disinfectant.
5.9.2 Remove the bag tray and decontaminate both the tray and
external chassis of the equipment.
5.9.3 Use a clean gauze wet with a disinfectant solution.
5.9.4 Rinse all the surfaces and then dry with a clean cloth.
Note: Be careful not to drop any liquid inside the central hole.
Do NOT use pure alcohol, acetone or other solvents potentially
harmful for plastic or paint.
5.10 Calibration:
5.10.1 Perform a calibration of the balance About every three
months to avoid improper weigh measurements that may
compromise the preparation of the bags

5.10.3 Refer to the Manufacturer's Manual Procedure to
proceed with the calibration.
5.10.4 To proceed the calibration, press the mode key and with
the arrow's keys move to read then press ENTER.
5.10.5 he displays will show now the memorized reference
mass or add the new value and press ENTER.
