NARRATIVE REPORT
“Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader”. – Margaret Fuller
Reading is an important skill that every people must possess. It opens new

to other places. Learner’s language and communication skills can also improve

It is important to every learner to level up their reading proficiency. But
some learners encounter difficulties in attaining it. In order to solve this,
teachers were asked to render extra time and effort to help learners. This shows
how teacher care so much every learners they handle in class.
Aringay Central Elementary School drafted an advancement Reading
Program that helped those learners who were struggling from reading. The
advancement program was entitled “Project: CARE”. The goal of the “Project:
CARE:” is to help the selected Grade 1 learners to improve their reading
proficiency level, in order for them to advance their reading skills in preparation
for the next school year to come. The program objectives were (1) to strengthen

Marungko, Project Smile and FLAT materials were used during the
implementation. The said materials were a great help in improving learners
reading proficiency.
Teachers had conducted 3-hour daily session for learners, to let them
master and practice reading. This move of the teachers was a great help and
serve as a way to monitor every learners progress. Parents were also asked their
partnership. They were assigned to monitor too their children, by giving an hour
to let them read a reading material they have at home. With this parent-teacher
tandem, learners reading proficiency quickly improved. So far, after the 2-week
advancement program, a lot of improvement became visible. Some learners were
able to read words, phrases and even simple sentences.
The reading program of the school will still continue after the 2-week
advancement. Enrichment program will start right away to ensure the mastery
and continuous improvement of every learner in their reading skills.
