Waterloo Orientation Week Detailed Schedule
This schedule breakdown gives you all the details to every single event
taking place during Orientation Week. You can click on the date
below to jump to that day in the schedule. Print this off or save it on
your mobile so you can access it at all times!

Golden Ticket required for all events with the following symbol
Wellness Recharge Room
From Tuesday the 3rd – Friday the 6th between 9am-4pm, the Wellness Education Centre
will be hosting the "Wellness Recharge Room". A space for students to recharge their
mental health between the bustle of Orientation Week. The Wellness Recharge Room will
be located in the Wellness Education Centre (SS 1-110), below the Wellness Centre, or by
the Dining Hall.
Shinerama BBQs & Walking Tacos
Every day during O-Week from 11AM - 2PM Shinerama will be offering up some good eats
while also raising money for Shinerama in support of Cystic Fibrosis. Click here for where
they will be located.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 1st
9am – 3pm - Move In Day & O-Kit Pick-up
Location: Your Residence Building
Who attends: Residence students with a Sunday move-in day
Happy First Day to you!
Pick-up your residence keys at your designated key pick up location, grab your
O-Kit and head over to your new home where our volunteers will be ready to
help you move in.

9am – 3pm - Off-Campus Student (LOCUS) Registration
Location: Lazaridis Hall Atrium
Who attends: Off-campus students
Happy First Day to you!
Come to Lazaridis Hall and check-in at the LOCUS table to find out your LOCUS
Community, and your O-Week colour team. From there you can continue on
and pick up your O-Kit from the Students’ Union.
4pm – 5pm - Residence Student Community Meeting
Location: Your Residence Building
Who attends: Students in Residence who moved in on Sunday
Your first community meeting will provide you with an opportunity to meet the
students living in your community, receive important building information, and
become familiar with Residence Staff.
5pm – 5:30pm - Meet Your Icebreaker
Location: Your Residence Community
Who attends: Students in Residence who moved in on Sunday
Say hello to your new upper year mentors! Each Residence & LOCUS community
is matched with volunteers called Icebreakers who will help guide you through
O-Week.
5:30pm – 7:00pm - Dinner on Your Own
Location: Your Choice!
Check out Wilf’s, our amazing on campus pub, eat at the Dining Hall or grab a
bite at any of the delicious off-campus restaurants nearby.
7pm – 7:30pm - Colour Team Meeting
Location: Colour Team Headquarters
Who attends: Students in Residence who moved in on Sunday
Meet all the students from across campus who are on your colour team and
learn some of your team cheers. Teams meet at a designated Headquarters
(HQ) that is home base for the week.
8pm – 9pm - Opening Ceremonies
Location: Athletic Complex
Who attends: Students in Residence who moved in on Sunday

You might have heard of Wes Barker before since he has been on America’s Got Talent,
MTV, the Comedy Network and fooled Penn and Teller! Barker’s show ranges from
comedy, to stunts, tricks, and crowd interaction. For more info about Wes Barker: Click Here

This is your first opportunity to meet the other students in your community as well
as your LOCUS don! During this meeting you'll learn more about what LOCUS is,
what your Don will do and what you can expect throughout the week and year.
4pm – 4:30pm – LOCUS: Meet Your Icebreaker

Who attends: Off-campus Students

4:30pm – 6:30pm - Off-Campus Student Commuter Reception
Location: The Turret
Who attends: Off-campus students
This reception will provide you with delicious appetizers, drinks and an
opportunity to meet other off-campus students. We have a couple of special
guests lined up to welcome you, as well as awesome prizes and swag for you to
go home with.
5:00pm – 5:30pm – Meet Your Icebreaker

Who attends: Students who purchased the Golden Ticket
Come out enjoy a movie under the stars. Bring a blanket and some cash as
Shinerama will be selling popcorn. The movie we’ll be showing is Anchorman!
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd
10am – 12pm - Positive Pulse
Location: Athletic Complex & Concourse
Guide your own adventure and learn more about the importance of both
physical and mental wellness. Join a fitness class, tour the Athletic Complex,
and learn about resources on campus. This event is drop in from 10am-12pm.

10am – 11am – Transfer Advising Drop in Hour
Location: Lazaridis Hall LH1009
Who attends: Transfer Students ONLY
Meet with a Recruitment & Admissions staff member to discuss & review your
transfer credits to ensure you’re on the right path to success at Laurier.
11am – 12pm – Being Successful in University; Expectations &
Strategies
Location: Lazaridis Hall LH1011
Who attends: Mature & Transfer students ONLY
Join staff from Transition & Learning Services for a discussion about questions
and challenges often faced by Laurier's mature student population. This session
will also introduce resources and strategies to ensure you are successful at
Laurier.
11:20am – 12:30pm – Double Degree Student BBA Academic Session
Location: Lazaridis Hall LH3094
Who attends: Students enrolled in the Double Degree Program between the
WLU Faculty of Science & the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics
Learn all you need to know about the Bachelor of Business Administration
program. Faculty and staff will chat with you about what to expect with your
program, how to be successful and the resources that are available to support
you throughout your academic journey.
1pm – 4pm – Student(ing) 101
Location: Arts Atrium (Schlegel Building) & Various Classrooms in Lazaridis Hall.
Student(ing) 101 is your time to learn how to ‘win’ University. Join our Student
Success team to find out how to make the most of your time at Laurier. You
have been assigned to a success session to learn from experts and other
students about ‘How to Fail at University’ (see schedule below). Our Academic
Resource & Student Support Fair and campus tours will help you feel prepared
to tackle everything first year throws your way.

Colour Team Meeting
Location: Colour Team Headquarters
Wave #1: 4:15PM – 4:45PM – BLUE & GOLD
Wave #2: 4:30PM – 5PM – RED & GREEN
Meet up with your colour team to recap the day and get ready for the Room
Burn, Shine Time with Jeremie Saunders and Headphone Disco!
5pm – 6pm – Shine Time with Jeremie Saunders
Location: Athletic Complex
Wave #1: 5PM – 6PM – BLUE & GOLD
Wave #2: 6:30PM-7:30PM – RED & GREEN
Jeremie is an award winning actor, producer and host of popular original
Canadian media, including film, television and podcasts (Sick Boy Podcast). He
lives with a genetic lung disease called Cystic Fibrosis. Learn more about Cystic
Fibrosis, Shinerama, and what we’re really fundraising for all week and on

Room Burn Presentation
Location: Northdale Campus
Wave #1: 5:30PM – 6PM - RED & GREEN
Wave #2: 6:30PM-7PM – BLUE & GOLD
This event is sure to be LIT! Come check out this vivid demonstration of a dorm
room being lit on fire and see just how quickly things can get out of hand. You
will also learn about some important fire safety tips and see a cooking trailer
(grease fire) demonstration put on by SHERM and the Waterloo Fire Department.
5pm – 7:30pm - Mature & Transfer Student Reception
Location: The Hawks Nest
Who attends: Mature & Transfer students
You will have the opportunity to meet other mature and transfer students,
service staff and faculty members over food, drinks and fun!
5pm – 7:30pm – LOCUS presents JACKBOX + UNO
Location: Paul Martin Centre
Who attends: Off-Campus Students (LOCUS)
Bring your phone & quick wit to this event! Jackbox is an interactive game
where players join by simply using the web browser on their smartphones – no
app needed! Come check out a variety of different games that might ask you
to draw weird doodles, write the best inside joke, or answer hilarious trivia
questions. You’ll be guaranteed to laugh & learn a thing or two about your
peers! Trivia not your thing? That’s OK! We’ll have a Uno tournament going as
well.
9pm – 12am - Headphone Disco
Location: The Quad
Who attends: Students who purchased the Golden Ticket
The Headphone Disco party is always a hit at Laurier! Switch between the
different DJ's with your wireless headphones and dance the night away with
your friends!
9pm – 12am - We Got Game!
Location: The Turret
Who attends: Students who purchased the Golden Ticket
Head to The Turret and get your game on! Play solo or challenge your friends on
PlayStation, X-Box or virtual reality.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4th
Can I Kiss You?
Locations: Athletic Complex
Wave 1: 10am – 11am – BLUE & GOLD
Wave 2: 11:30am – 12:30pm – RED & GREEN
For over a decade, Mike has been inspiring individuals with his hilarious sense of
humour and his ability to draw hard-hitting emotion from audiences. Mike’s
“Can I Kiss You?” is a fun, interactive and thought-provoking program that
focuses on why “asking first” makes all the difference.

Meet up with your colour team to prepare for the day ahead.
1pm – 4:30pm - Academic & Program Sessions
Location: Various rooms around campus
Learn all you need to know about your faculty and program. Faculty and staff
will chat with you about what to expect with your program, how to be
successful and the resources that are available to support you throughout your
academic journey.

5pm – 11pm - O-Carnival
Location: Northdale Campus
O-Carnival is night full of fun and games. Ride the Ferris Wheel, or if heights
aren’t your thing stand in front of it for the perfect Instagram moment. You’ll find
the Gravitron and other classic carnival rides, a roller rink, busker performers and
live musical entertainment.
8pm – 10pm – BINGO with TWAN
Location: The Turret
Grab your bingo dabber and lucky charms for your chance to win some
awesome prizes!
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th
10am – 3pm - Clubs Fair
Location: Alumni Field
Come check out some of the over 250 Clubs and Associations that we have here at
Laurier. Connect with personal interest clubs such as The Harry Potter Alliance, Charitable
based clubs like Best Buddies Laurier or some faculty based clubs such as the History
Students’ Association. Can’t find anything that interests you? Check out all the other clubs
and associations on campus or learn how to start your own at The Perch
8pm – 11:30pm - Welcome Back Concert – JAZZ CARTIER
Location: Athletic Complex
Every year A-team brings you high profile artist for Orientation Week. In the past
years we have brought in Down with Webster, The Arkells, Desiigner and NAV!
This year’s performer is Jazz Cartier!
This concert is guaranteed to be a sell out and you won’t want to miss it! Get

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6th
10am – 3pm – Campus Fest
Location: Alumni Field
Between your classes come check out campus fest and all it has to offer!
Campus Fest is made up of student committees, Laurier departments and
community partners. Come for the FREE swag, stay for the FUN!
4:30pm – 5:30pm - Colour Team Meeting
Location: Colour Team Headquarters
Meet all the students from across campus who are on your colour team and get prepared
to lift your team to victory in cheer-off

Location: Athletic Complex
Always wanted to be hypnotized? Well you’re in luck because the Jeff West experience is
coming to Laurier. Whether you are participating or watching, West does not disappoint
and leaves everyone with their jaws dropped!

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th
9am – 4pm - Shine Day
Location: Various locations around the KW area
Bling Bling - CF ain't no thing! One of the most memorable days of Orientation
Week. Wash those cars, chuck that change, and have a blast while raising
money for a great cause.
7pm – 10pm - Closing Ceremonies & Laurier Football Game
Location: University Stadium
1st and 10 do it again, Go Hawks Go!
Come cheer on your Golden Hawks as they take on the University of Toronto
Varsity Blues. Orientation Week has come to a close. During Half Time, find out
the Shinerama fundraising total and the overall O-Week winner!
Remember - it's great to be a Laurier Golden Hawk!
