<<新冠疫苗接种记>> The day before my vaccine I was excited yet anxious as it’s my first dose. My mind was running places. Like an owl I was lying on my green bed, couldn’t seemed to close my eyes even a bit. We were told to wear our sky blue PJ shirt with black-striped on the shoulder. Thank goodness, we were free to choose what pants to wear as the school PJ pants is quite baggy which makes short people like me looks ugly. Fast forward to the day of my first dose vaccination, I woke up as usual for my online class. Dark eyebags under my eyes could be seen clearly due to lack of sleep but strangely, I was feeling super energetic that day. After a long online session, I prepared myself for vaccination. Upon arrival, my heart was beating fast. Not out of fear but really out of pure excitement. At long last, I got to see my school again. I observed the building up and down then carefully stepped into the place. I scanned my temperature and made my way to my appointed class. We were allowed to bring our gadget so I’m not surprised at the view of students on their own phone. I sat down on the leftover seat and filled out the form which my teacher had given to me. I played some games on my phone and I didn’t even realise it had been an hour, although the time felt long. We walked down the hallway and went to the next location. I reunited with my mum and sat down on the seat given, waiting in the hot sun. Despite the loud crowd, we remained patient and silent. Some time later, the teachers asked us to go into the unfamiliar building called Dewan Suarah. We were asked to scan the usual MySejahtera Check-In after scanning my temperature. At the waiting zone, the vaccination center had an announcement repeated every 3-5 minutes. We gave the filled form from earlier. The consent was quite straightforward. The doctor asked me regarding my allergy status. After confirming my consent, I was asked to move to the station opposite of the counselling station where the staff checked my IC and MySejahtera app again. After these stations, I went to the vaccination room without my mum. The vaccination was upstairs. It was wide, filled with air-conditioner everywhere and had 6 tents, probably for the vaccination process. I sat on the front seat so that I could hear my name clearly. I was a little afraid of the needle. While waiting for my turn outside of the vaccination tent, my mind was preoccupied with the thoughts of needle and injection. Upon hearing my name, I walked awkwardly to the vaccination tent. She was very nice and we had a very pleasant conversation. She asked me to relax. I guess she could see the panic look on my face. She was a real ‘pro’. I could not feel a thing, not even the needle going in. The only thing I felt was the needle on my skin. Zero pain.
