F. Duration

G. Rationale
:
School backyard gardening and fish production is a very rewarding endeavor.
Ideally, this activity is undertaken to support school program needs and use vacant site
and available resources to the fullest.
DepEd released Memorandum # 293, s. 2007 “Gulayan sa Paaralan” encouraging
increased public awareness in health and nutrition especially among pupils, teachers and
parents. The following year, DepEd Memorandum # 234, s 2008, which encouraged the
planting of malunggay (moringa) trees in school, was issued by then Secretary of
Education Jeslie Lapuz which complemented “Gulayan sa Paaralan”. ________________
Elementary School sustains these initiatives as it adopts containerized gardening
partnered with fish production. As a result, the school garnered special citations in the
competition on the best implementer of Gulayan sa Paaralan and grade level gardening
respectively. This is a search launched by the Division Office in partnership with the
YES sponsored by the Provincial Environment Office. For this school year 2019-2020,
_________________ Elementary School aims to maintain or even surpass the said
awards.
In this juncture, the implementers thought of embarking on a long plan income
generating project as a means of maintaining and sustaining the program. Most
importantly to raise funds for the improvement of the School’s Gulayan Project, the
School’s fish production and school’s feeding program.
H. Purposes and Objectives
1. To build an understanding of and respect for nature and our environment.
2. To motivate pupils to plant and eat vegetables, fish production and mushroom
production.
3. To provide opportunities for hands-on learning, inquiry, observation and
experimentation for the pupils and teachers.
4. To promote physical activity and quality outdoor experiences.
5. To teach pupils to nurture and care for other living things while developing patience.
6. To develop appreciation of the pupils the importance of agriculture and fisheries in
their life as a source of food and income.
7. To provide an opportunity for inculcating among the pupils the value of work,
industry and caring for the environment.
8. To have an alternative source of food for the school’s feeding program.
9. To experience earning money for the improvement of the school’s backyard
gardening and fish production.

K. Project Operational Description
A. Market
Vegetables provide the nutrients and vitamins the body needs when these
vegetables are digested. Similarly, mushroom are claimed to be a powerhouse of
nutritional values. Hence, this long plan Income Generating Project will awaken the
consciousness of the pupils in the effect of having a healthy dietary intake.
In the marketing of the products, the grade level will maintain their grade level
garden. Each grade level will harvest their own fruits/vegetable in the morning and
selling of the same follows in the same place, school garden. Record and sales is
necessary. The amount of sales will be determined by using the format as in Table A
below:
Table A: Please See Attach Records of Seed Dispersal
Please See Attach Records of Sales
In the event that there is an excess in their product, the said amount will be used
to buy garden tools and equipment for the maintenance of the garden. Also, the grade
level with the well maintained garden will receive a certificate and school and cash
incentive.
B. Technical Description
The project is located at ____________________ Elementary School. The seeds
will be taken from the harvest of the last planting season and the rest will be bought at the
authorized seed distributor.
C. Organizational Management
The project is headed by the EPP Coordinators/Teachers with the support of the
pupils and HRPTA members. The budgetary requirement for the proposed project is
reflected in Table B.

L. Conclusions
The “_____ES-GP’s; Palaisdaan and Mushroom Production” (GP) was a modest
replication of the “Gulayan ng Masa” (GM) served as one of the best practices of
_________________ Elementary School – created a vital contribution for its feeding
program. Pre-reflective awareness in responding to government mandates like “YES” and
sustainable development, hunger and malnutrition, and other environmental challenges
was a valuable piece for proximal impression led the __ES-GP’s; Palaisdaan and Fish
Production creation. Exasperations to the inimical attitude shown among the __ES-GP’s;
Palaisdaan stakeholders, resulted in the garden’s minimum involvement, insufficient
landscaping and garden fixtures, no proper arrangement and classification of vegetables
according to the specified garden models indicated no discouragement. Stretched
consciousness of these realities, catapulted a transcendent vision for change and innovate
organic fertilizers and pesticides in the enhancement of garden yields. Experiences
swirled to a retention that mattered; a passion for environment, a coordination of the nongovernment organization was forged for successful maintenance of the garden was
regarded an anticipated proposal for action. Success in vegetable gardening was an
attribute of passion in a seamless element of stretched consciousness for sustainable
development, with a certain degree of sameness across the flow of time.
M. Recommendations
A crop museum is highly recommended to be adopted to promote crop
diversification and improve the sufficiency on the supply of seeds and seedlings.
Likewise, be advised that the Division monitoring team will visit our school in a
quarterly basis.
