The Department/Team The Trading Technology Department consists of 23 technologists across development, quality assurance and DevOps teams. We are a full stack team providing all technology required by FRM’s global trading operations. These trading operations include the portfolio management, trading, and trade operations teams. Our systems include financial mathematics to calculate risk, order management and routing systems to send orders, market data, reporting, and trade reconciliation for a wide variety of financial instruments traded around the world. Your Role/What You’ll Do The Software Developer will work with other developers on the team in the creation and support of trading, risk and back-office systems which are used on a global basis. They will ideally have pre-existing expertise to create, maintain and enhance such systems to support our growing business. This includes both client and server-side software, database, and potentially intranet-based web development. The person in this role will be able to take on responsibilities only limited by their abilities and will be able to work with a fair degree of independence. The ability to work and communicate clearly with other technical and nontechnical team members including traders is a must. Your Qualifications Required: Degree in Mathematics or Computer Science preferred, alternatively substantial project experience would be considered in conjunction with different degrees Solid and knowledge and recent experience with C# required SQL knowledge required Ability to take on projects and operate with minimal oversight Willingness to own products and take responsibility for their support Strong communication skills Desired: Experience with Microsoft SQL Server preferred Sharp critical thinking skills, sound judgment and decision-making ability, and both the ability and willingness to clearly articulate your ideas Experience developing software in the trading industry Experience with more tradable instrument types, both exchange and OTC, preferred Proactive communication and working style An inherent sense of the value of collaboration The ability to work both collaboratively and independently and to see the value of both in an iterative development process Proven ability to work in a fast-pace environment where the client is always first Milliman Benefits At Milliman, we focus on creating an environment that recognizes – and meets – the personal and professional needs of the individual.
