YESTERMINE FINAL ESSAY During the cause of this study, I have learnt various and most especially, the important of healthy behavior and lifestyle. From the knowledge of wellness, all the dimensions of wellness must be fulfilled to live a healthy life. Starting from developing good nutritional chart for eating well, exercising to be physically active, getting regular checkups, feeling good about myself by increasing my selfconfidence, and feeling optimistic about the future through financial and occupational wellness. I must develop a habit that will help me to live well, by maintaining those habits that have become very crucial to live and maintain a longer life expectancy level. From my BMI analysis of 29.2, which indicate overweight, could pose a serious health challenge if I do not work harder to lower it to normal level of less than 24.9. Also, my hip to waist ratio is hovering around one, which is not too good. One of the strategies I have developed to maintain an active healthy behavior is to register for gym class, and to be discipline about it. I will prioritize my time so that I can spend some time on exercise. Another way I want to be active is by limiting driving and trek in some cases, especially when going to the nearby stores and at work, I will park my car in a bit distance, so that I can trek few kilometers away from the office. I will also devote more time working around at work rather than sitting too much. Another way of being active is to be mentally ok by trying to get enough sleep to reduced overstress occasioned by lack of sleep. The benefit of being active cannot be overemphasized. Our body is like a vehicle, the more active it is, the better it runs. Physically active people enjoy many social, psychological, and emotional benefits, like reduced anxiety and depression, improved sleep, reduced YESTERMINE stress, and intellectual functioning. Physically active individuals have a reduced risk of dying prematurely from all kinds of illnesses. There are both immediate and long-term effect of being active. The immediate effects include, increase energy productions, increase heart rate, and blood flow to the skin to increase sweating to help maintain a safe body temperature. Some of the long-term effects include selfimage improvement. When someone is physically active, he/she has a complete good picture of himself, and thereby feeling more confident. Physical activeness also helps to manage stress. Stress management is another crucial factor that I will implore to live well. The ability to reduce those activities and conditions that could distort my mental and psychological wellness should be my main goal. On the community needs to enhance the quality of others, I will set up community advocacy class that will educate the community on healthy lifestyles through health promotion and disease prevention. Most people do not know that secondhand smoking could be as dangerous as smoking itself, there is need to educate the masses, especially the younger ones, on the need to prevent smoking and dangerous drugs consumptions. At the beginning of this class, the dimension of wellness I chose to focus was environmental wellness, which focus on the need to keep the surroundings livable by doing some of those things that will keep the environment safe by avoiding dangerous hazard exposure, reducing pollution and waste, recycling, when possible, thereby maintaining a sustainable environment. Now, the entire world is working towards the protection of the environment through green energy, by reducing unnecessary exposure to toxic materials, this is part of the mass awareness I will embark upon, to educate the masses and people around YESTERMINE me, on the health challenges that could be avoided if we can maintain a healthy and clean environmental atmosphere. As part of my social responsibility, I will spend some time volunteering in community services like helping in Houston foodbanks and library, thereby giving back to the community by helping them save money for other community development.
