Equality in Sports
Facts:
1. Women earn less than men for participating in the same code of sport, e.g.,
soccer.
2. There are more opportunities to compete in professional sport for men than
for women.
3. Girls and boys are taught that girls are weaker and boys are better at sports
from a young age.
4. Girls are ‘brainwashed’ from a young age to participate in ‘girl’ related
activities rather than playing sports, e.g., baking, cooking.
5. The media does not give the same attention to sportswomen that they
provide to men. Therefore large companies hesitate to sponsor sportswomen.
