Background of the Animated Soundtrack or Band Song(2 to 4 authors as
reference: 2014 and up)
Phil Collins composed the You’ll Be In My Heart song from Tarzan. The
song is about "how love is a bond that cannot be broken". It was released in
1999, the song was prominently featured on the soundtrack to Disney's
Tarzan. Phil Collins actually composed the full soundtrack to the film and
ended up winning multiple awards. The music video for the song was directed
by Kevin Godley. Collins also recorded the song in French ("Toujours dans
mon cœur"), German ("Dir gehört mein Herz"), Italian ("Sei dentro me") and
Spanish ("En mi corazón vivirás") aside from his native English.
According to Collins (2016), it is a song by Phil Collins, The song is about
two people with a very close bond who will be physically separated, but
always together in spirit. It’s a song of comfort that can relate to many close
relationships, but in the movie it deals with mother and son- the song is used
in a scene where a young Tarzan is soothed by his adoptive gorilla mother,
voiced by Glenn Close.
According to Karen Belz (2016), “You’ll be in my heart” was released in
1999, the song was prominently featured on the soundtrack to Disney’s
Tarzan. Phil Collins actually composed the full soundtrack to the film, and
ended up winning multiple awards. So obviously his beautiful lyrics and music
touched the lives of many. And, without a doubt, his songs definitely made
Tarzan stand out from other ‘90s films.

Lyrics of the Song
(https://www..azlyrics.com/lyrics/philcollins/youllbeinmyheart.html)
Come stop your crying
It will be alright
Just take my hand
Hold it tight
I will protect you
From all around you
I will be here
Don’t you cry
For one so small,
You seem so strong
My arms will hold you,
Keep you safe and warm
This bond between us
Can’t be broken
I will be here
Don’t you cry
‘Cause you’ll be in my heart
Yes, you’ll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more
You’ll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You’ll be here in my heart always
Why can’t they understand the way we feel?
They just don’t trust what they can’t explain
I know we’re different but deep inside us
We’re not that different at all
And you’ll be in my heart
Yes, you’ll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more
Don’t listen to them
‘Cause what do they know (what do they know?)
We need each other
To have, to hold
They’ll see in time
I know
When destiny calls you
You must be strong (you gotta be strong)
I may not be with you
But you’ve got to old on
They’ll see in time
I know
We’ll show them together
‘Cause you’ll be in my heart
Believe me, you’ll be in my heart
I’ll be there from this day on,
Now and forever more
Oh, you’ll be in my heart (you’ll be in my heart)
No matter what they say (I’ll be with you)
You’ll be here in my heart (I’ll be there) always
Always
I’ll be with you
I’ll be there for you always
Always and always
Just took over your shoulder
Just took over your shoulder
Just took over your shoulder
I’ll be there always

Paradox
A. You’ll Be In My Heart by Phil Collins
To understand more the process of the contextual analysis. The context of You’ll
Be In My Heart were determined these includes the tenor, field and mode. The song
was analyzed in the study through the analysis of figurative language used in the
song lyrics entitled “You’ll Be In My Heart”.
It is essential to primarily outline the text through knowing some information or
some background about the song. The context of situation that needs to be
determined and analyzed are the tenor, field, and mode of the song based on
Halliday’s theory. The tenor refers to the relationships between the people involved
in the interaction. Based on the song, the relationship that evolved there is all about
two people with a very close bond who will be physically separated but always
together in spirit. It’s a song of comfort that can relate to many close relationships.
The relationship here is a relationship between a mother and son. It is supported by
the line “‘Cause you’ll be in my heart, Yes, You’ll be in my heart, From this day on,
Now and forever more”, this line signifies the love of a mother to her child is forever.
On the other hand, the field is referred to the subject matter of the song. The
song “You’ll Be In My Heart” is all about a relationship between a mother and son. A
mother who really loves her child that no matter what happens she’s always there to
love and protect her child from everyone that can harm her child.
Another is the mode, it can be spoken if the song is intended to be sung while
written if the lyrics are not meant to do so. Based on my analysis, the listener or
even the readers must need to study and familiarize what are the different figurative
language in order for them to interpret and internalize the main message of the song
because as what I have observed some of the lyrics re not totally meant to be
interpreted literally.
In a nutshell, all of these contexts must be analyzed to provide the readers,
listeners and audience the essential insights in understanding the specific text.

Hyperbole is the type of figurative language which is mainly found in the You’ll be in
my heart lyrics.

Yes, you’ll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more
The line “you’ll be in my heart” in this line it does not literally mean that the person is
not really on the heart. According to SMF (2019), It strongly speaks about assuring a
loved one that you will always be there to keep them safe and cared for through thick
and thin. It begins by offering comfort to the loved one who is probably faced with an
adversary or a challenging situation and assuring them of security.

Be In My Heart Lyrics.
When destiny calls you
You must be strong (you gotta be strong)

They’ll see in time
I know
We’ll show them together
The line “when destiny calls you” somehow signifies that there is a right time for
trials and struggles you’ve faced. According to Turdfaceyummyboo (2006), People don’t
understand how our relationship works or why e stay together. This song is all about
staying together no matter what people say.
3. Paradox in You’ll Be In My Heart
Paradox is the type of figurative language which is mainly found in the You’ll Be
In My Heart Lyrics.
Why can’t they understand the way we feel?

We’re not that different at all
The line “I know we’re different but deep inside us, we’re not that different at all”
According to Smithsguy (2013), This song is made specifically to describe the
relationship between a mother and human son.
