Identify the different scoring guidelines for action research. 2. Reflect on the importance of an appropriate scoring procedure for a successful research project through an essay; and 3. Search for published research articles to provide an example of a competent scoring guideline. CONTENT RATIONALE: Every student's academic achievement begins with a successful research paper, thus it is only necessary that they fully understand all of its components and stages. Understanding the scoring guidelines in particular will enable them to properly assess the data and end their paper in the way that they intended. Additionally, it is crucial that students understand that the scoring guidelines are a critical element of a research paper because this is where the data will be varied upon and where the interpretation of the potential results will be initially formulated. ACTIVITY: Activity name: Watch and Learn Materials: YouTube Link Links to the Activity: https://youtu.be/wBomUBY62a4 https://jamboard.google.com/d/1WeqBpEMhpvZBcMsZTX4DUEXqxgM9NWbLwNe2rUbQfg4/ed it?usp=sharing (In this activity, students are tasked to watch a short animated video about the importance of research through a YouTube link provided and take note of the key points indicted throughout the video.) Procedure: 1. The students will access the activity through the given external link by the facilitator, which will lead them to a YouTube site. 2. In the Jamboard, the students will write down their three main takeaways about the importance of research through a virtual sticky note with their surnames in the upper right corner. ANALYSIS: 1. Did the activity allow the students to become more engaged with the topic prior to the discussion of the lesson? 2. What were the challenges the students have encountered in doing the activity? 3. What is the relation of the assembled words to the topic today? ABSTRACTION: RESEARCH SCORING GUIDELINE Different types of instrument: 1. 2. 3. 4. Multiple choice (Ex. Sex, civil status, highest educational attainment) Open ended questions (Ex. Age) Rating Scale (Ex. 1-5 rating scale) Likert ScaleLikert Scale Named after psychologists Rensis Likert, it's founder. The Likert Scale questions is used to understand the level of agreement that the respondents have with a particular statement. The range provided in this Scale is used to gain insights about respondent feelings and opinions. TWO TYPES OF LIKERT SCALE ODD LIKERT SCALE Used when the survey creator intends to provide freedom to the respondents for the type of feedback that they provide. EVEN LIKERT SCALE Used in situations regarding awareness or insights or similar situations where a neutral opinion isn't necessary. Examples of Odd Likert Scale 1. 3-point Likert Scale for Agreement 2. 5-point Likert Scale for Agreement 3. 7-point Likert Scale for Agreement 4. 5-point Likert Scale for Satisfaction 5. 7-point Likert Scale for satisfaction Examples of Even Likert Scale 1. 2-point Likert Scale for Agreement 2. 4-point Likert Scale for Agreement 3. 4-point Likert Scale for Satisfaction 4. 4-point Likert Scale for Frequency 5. 7-point Likert Scale for Likelihood Scoring Procedure -Written test, structured oral interview, performance test, or other selection procedures that results in a numerical score to which percentage points may be added. EXAMPLE #1 The range is calculated by (5-1=4) Then divide by 5 as it is the greatest value of the scale (4÷5=0.80) EXAMPLE #2 APPLICATION: To determine if the content has been delivered successfully, the students’ learning will be assessed through a performance task activity.
