ACT PREP COURSE DESCRIPTION: ACT Prep Course will prepare you for success on the ACT test. Three (3) sections will be taught in three (3) rotations every 6 weeks. Students will be notified as to the rotation schedule dates. •Math Session •English / Reading Session •Science Session RESOURCES: -Canvas for listing of assignments -Analyze Ed for specialized content practice GRADING: Grading will be based upon daily and weekly progress, completion of daily and weekly assignments and practice tests. ACT Benchmarks: Composite: 21, Math: 22, English: 18, Science: 23, Reading: 22 REQUIREMENTS: Students in TN are required to take a college entrance exam (either ACT or SAT) in the eleventh grade as a graduation requirement for students seeking a regular or honors diploma. CLASS EXPECTATIONS: • Turn on Chromebook and Log into accounts at the proper time. • CANVAS – Check the agenda for the day. • ANALYZE ED - Complete assignments as instructed. • Use class time wisely to improve testing skills and study skills. • Make up work is the student’s responsibility BASIC INFORMATION: The ACT is a standardized test that measures a student’s skills in five core areas: English, math, reading, science, and writing (optional). Students who score at or above all of the subject readiness benchmarks on the ACT will graduate with honors. By attaining a score of 31 or higher composite on the ACT, students will be recognized as graduating with “distinction” . By attaining a score of 21 or higher, students are eligible for the HOPE scholarship. By attaining a score of 29 or higher, students will receive the honor of A-GA-TA-NA-I accolades.
