AP COURSES Description Advanced Placement (AP) is a program created by the College Board which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students Instructor Courses taught by high schoolapproved teachers meeting AP course evaluation and professional development requirements Credit automatically applied to LSC transcript Credit Each year, when a student takes an AP Exam, they have the opportunity to send one free score report by entering the four-digit code of the college, university, or scholarship program on your first or "registration" AP answer sheet Most academic courses will transfer to any public Texas college or university when a student earns a "C" or better Transferability Acceptance of credit depends on the institution and exam score College-level academic or workforce courses taken to receive college and high school credit at the same time Course taught by college faculty Top 5 Four-Year Institutions To Which Our Students Transferred To GENERAL ELIGIBILITY To be eligible for dual credit you must: • Be enrolled in a high school with an agreement with LSC • Obtain approval from the high school designee for dual credit enrollment • Complete college admission requirements for exceptional admissions into the dual credit program • Meet minimum college readiness test scores in reading, writing, math and/or prerequisites for the course(s) you want to take HOW TO GET STARTED 1. Talk to your high school designee for approval before proceeding. 2. Apply for admission to Lone Star College at LoneStar.edu/Admissions. 3. Review TSI requirements for dual credit students If not TSI exempt, (students who have recently taken approved college assessment tests 4. and can enroll in any entry-level college course without restrictions) complete the TSIA pre-assessment activity through your myLoneStar new student checklist. (This is a state requirement that must be completed before being allowed to take the TSI assessment.) 5. 6. 7. Take the TSI assessment and meet with your dual credit high school designee to review TSI scores. (Retest as necessary.) Students attending classes on a Lone Star College campus are required to provide documentation regarding their bacterial meningitis vaccination. Details about bacterial meningitis and requirements may be found at LoneStar.edu/Meningitis. Submit both dual credit registration form to the dual credit high school designee and applicable payment via myLoneStar by deadline (each semester).
