Description:
High voltage charge time is the interval during which the HV_ENABLE signal enables the HV power supply
to charge the HV storage capacitor in the commutator. In manual or gated trigger modes this interval is
followed immediately by an SSPPM_TRIG trigger pulse to the commutator. The HVChgTim must be
compatible with the repetition rate to allow at least 200µs between laser firing and start of the next charge
cycle. At 1000 Hz laser triggering occurs every 1 ms. The unit of measure for this configurable is 1µs. The
Default of 700 sets the HV Enable time to 700 µs. The HVPS requires at least 700 µs to charge VCO to
operating voltage. For repetition rates greater than 799 Hz, HV charge starts as soon as SSPPMRDY is true
- at approximately 200 ms after the last trigger. This configurable is not used when the repetition rate is
greater than 799 Hz.

Description:
Energy low is the minimum pulse energy threshold below which a pulse is declared a misfire. The laser
maintains a running misfire counter that is cleared to zero at the beginning of LSRON state. Each misfire
adds 13 to the counter, each valid pulse decrements the counter by one unless it is already zero. If the
counter exceeds 127 the laser shuts down to STANDBY with the energy low error. This limits the misfires to
10 pulses in a row in the short run and 10% average in the long run.

Diagnostics Overview
Diagnostics provide operational information about the laser system. Some diagnostics alert you when laser
maintenance or part replacement is necessary and other diagnostics are related to error messages.
Each diagnostic has a number assigned to it. The numbers do not follow an exact sequential listing as some numbers
are reserved. The diagnostics are grouped by topic, including:
•
System identification
•
Mechanical
•
Current and voltage
•
Temperature and pressure
•
Utilities
•
Wavelength
•
Energy
•
Power supply voltages
•
Maintenance and lifetime
•
Pulse count
•
Module estimated time to maintenance
•
Miscellaneous

Errors and Warnings Descriptions
Diagnostic
D 105 Int energy
This error message can occur only in LSRON state and the pulse energy average of approximately 10 pulses is below
the threshold of the C 33 EnrgyLow. The laser drops to STANDBY state.
Check the following possible causes in the order listed:
1. The high voltage setting is too low.
2. Laser gas needs replacing. The laser gas is exhausted, or the laser gas might be contaminated.
3. The energy-monitoring photocell in the stabilization module is faulty.
4. The laser optics are dirty.
5. Air or water vapor is entering the laser chamber. Check the laser gas supply plumbing for leaks. Check the laser
gas exhaust plumbing for water vapor that may be emitted from the fluorine filters.
6. Catastrophic failure of the laser chamber. Fire the laser a few times with BURST COUNT = 1. If the laser makes
only a faint discharge noise and produces almost no light, the laser chamber is probably bad.
7. The laser is not being triggered properly. This is especially true when operating in TRIGGER mode.

vacuum press, has not reached configurable C 136 P_ChkPrs within C 111 P_ChkTim after the start of the P_CHK
gas step. Vacuum pressure is measured by an absolute pressure transducer at the vacuum pump inlet. The P_CHK
gas step is performed automatically during most gas functions.
If the pump is unable to achieve vacuum, there can be:
•
Moisture contamination in the F2 trap
•
A leak in the vacuum pump plumbing
•
A leaky exhaust valve on the manifold
•
A leaky bypass valve
•
Service required on the pump
To check the operation of the manifold pressure transducer, restart the gas function and compare diagnostic D 42
Manifld prs to diagnostic D 43 Vacuum prs during the M_CHK step. Configurables C 182 VPrsOfst or C 180 MPrsOfst
might not be calibrated properly. Check the pump contactor overload breaker and reset if required.

D 81 λ Stat:
This error occurs when the stabilization module is required to complete the 5 pm scan and return results to the control
module. After 30 seconds, the control module times out. The repetition rate may have been too low for the
stabilization module to half step 5.0 pm (approximately 70 steps) and average eight readings per step. Use a

Problem Definition
Adjustments to FineOffsetCal too far from coarse
Diagnostic
D 81 λ Stat:
This error occurs when the laser control module has determined that the DSCRPNCY flag of the stabilization module
status byte is set. The DSCRPNCY flag is set when the discrepancy between the fine and the coarse wavelength
reading is larger than ±8.0 pm. This serves as a limit to long term adjustment of fine offset. This occurs during
AWR_RESET while the laser is firing in LSRON state.
These adjustments are performed automatically by the AWR. The adjustment, during AWR_CAL, is made only to the
fine offset. The coarse offset is not changed. If a series of small adjustments to the fine offset are made, all in the
same direction, there will be a significant discrepancy between fine and coarse wavelength readings.

Problem Definition
Wavelength did not return by end of AWR_RESET
Diagnostic
D 81 λ Stat:
This error occurs when the stabilization module has failed to lock to the requested original wavelength within the 70
second AWR_RESET time. The repetition rate may have been too low for the wavemeter to step from the iron-line
wavelength back to the original setpoint or the original wavelength setpoint could have been invalid. A repetition rate
of 50 should allow the stabilization module to tune more than 300 pm in 60 seconds. This occurs during AWR_RESET
while the laser is firing in LSRON state.
