How Religion Is Portrayed By The Media
Religious radio stations, television programs, live discussions magazines and
documentaries all give an insight on the true meaning of religion.
The media can bring communities together, spread knowledge and hope
and make prayer more accessible and easier for those who cannot.
Usually the media will broadcast the most controversial stories as they
know they will most likely get a response.
The media can sometimes be used to encourage stereotyping and
discrimination against certain religious groups.
Media Using Religion
The media have been most involved in the presentation
religion through journalism.
The mass media era began with the development of mass press,
and in addition to the development of new audiences and new
economies.
Role of the Media
Media can be a source of religion and spirituality, an indicator of
religious and spiritual change, articulated into religious and spiritual
trends--changing religion through those interactions and also
being changed by that relationship.
