Introduction
As a healthcare professional it is essential that you know the spelling and correct pronunciation for
medical terminology. Throughout this course, you will be learning and reviewing prefixes, suffixes, and
root words associated with each module. This provides an opportunity for practice and instructor
feedback.
Directions
1. Review the rubric for assignment criteria.
2. Add the word parts and their definitions for each of the medical terms provided in the template.
 Specify the type of word part by practicing appropriate notation
 Prefixes require hyphen after the word part (pre-).
 Suffixes require hyphens before the word part (-algia).
 Roots require no punctuation (gastr).
 Combining forms require a ‘/’ before the combining vowel (gastr/o).
3. Submit to your instructor by the date and time listed in the course schedule.
4. Keep the document to use for the pronunciation assignment.
