With head offices in Kawempe, KHEI currently operates in more than seven (7) Districts of Uganda under a well established peer mechanism. We are committed to advocating for the health and human rights of Key and priority populations in Uganda. This is done by increased demand for access to friendly health services and rights, advocating for a conducive environment, favorable laws and friendly policies, accelerated demand for HIV/AIDS prevention, enrollment and retention on care services, sexual and reproductive health rights as well as an economically empowered MSM community in Uganda. Our Mission To ensure that the vulnerable in our world have access to the fundamental basic needs of life including though not limited to adequate shelter, food, water, sanitation, healthcare, education and economic opportunities. To promote and improve access to health and education among the youth, children, women, Key Populations and people with disabilities in Uganda. 2. To improve the livelihoods among poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged children, youth, women, families and communities in Uganda. 3. To promote and improve food security, nutrition and household incomes through productivity and market oriented farming among women, youth and key populations. 4. To offer social equity by providing accessible and affordable programs. 5. To develop partnerships with similar minded organisations to enhance our services. 6. To provide relevant information that will help the communiity to make informed choices anbout their livelihood and, 7. To lobby and advocate for fair policies and laws that affect the daily life of key populations and the vulnerable communities through research, networking and strategic alliance building. Socio-Economic Livelihood Enhancement (SELE) Our approach in implementing activities Outreach programmes Building local and national Partnerships and social networking Capacity building Lobbying and advocacy Legal support and litigation (Through paralegals) Income generation activities for the Key Populations Organizational Performance and Achievements KHEI has over the last two years implemented a range of social mobilization activities including community dialogues, community group meetings and peer trainings for over 200 key and priority populations, about 70% of whom were men who have sex with men, trans and male sex workers. We further provided 70 MSM, male sex workers and Trans women with a package of HIV prevention services especially HIV testing services, condom and lubricant education and distribution. Using our peer-led mechanism, KHEI managed to distribute a total of 30,160 male condoms and 350 sachets of lubricants to key populations in Kampala, Wakiso, Mpigi, Hoima, Ntoroko, Kasese and Soroti. Our strategic programming Increase our collaboration and partnerships both national and international Expand to more districts targeting more MSM, Transgender, PWID and other sub categories of the Key Population fraternity. Fundraise locally and internationally for program expansion Accommodate other minorities like the female sex workers. Support of any kind in regard to partnership in our advocacy programs from existing social service providers, NGOs, Government, Public and or Private Institutions and all likeminded CSOs fighting stigma, discrimination of MSM and promotion of our health and human rights will be appreciated.
