Republic of the Philippines Department of Education REGION VI-WESTERN VISAYAS SCHOOLS DIVISION OF GUIMARAS CASILLAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT ON REMEDIATION GRADE ONE SY 2021-2022 I. RATIONALE As George R. R. Martin said,” A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, the man who never reads lives only ones”. In line with the K – 12 program and the goal of making every child a reader, Casillan Elementary School conducted the Project READ (Reading Enhancement and Development). This project is a school innovation under the main program of the Schools Division Office which is the Project LEARN. This is designed to be a program for pupils’ remediation. The program is designed to provide the learners the reading and writing opportunities especially those who were marked as non-readers or in frustration level as shown in the result of the pre-assessment conducted in each grade level. The pupils identified as the beneficiaries of the program are expected to attend the remedial class conducted by the class adviser through home visitation or through the designated areas agreed during the orientation where the remedial will be conducted. It is the goal of the project to encourage the learners to become readers so they can feel the pleasure of reading, develop enthusiasm in reading and an excellent way of forestalling reading loss to those learners whose memory has not yet been fully develop. Due to pandemic, parents/guardians full support play an important role in this program. They will help the learners internalize their learnings at home. The collaborative work of the teachers and the parents will be a key factor in order for this project to be implemented successfully. II. With this result, the school must strive more in order to achieve a zero non-reader among the learners. The following are the possible recommendations that can be done. 1. Upon seeing that the remediation program is effective, this must be sustained and conducted rigidly every school year in order for the learners to improve their reading skills. 2. There should be frequent communication with parents must be done. This can be through sending letters, texts/chat or through social media. This will help the parents to be aware of the status of their children and will help them guide and support their child at home. 3. While the pandemic situation is still ongoing, the conduct of home visitation must be done frequently in order to update the progress of the learner. While doing this, health protocols must be followed strictly for the safety of the learner and the teacher. 4. When face to face classes will resume, this program must still be implemented in school by conducting applicable and appropriate teaching strategies for the learners. Prepared by: REJANE G.
