SON (Signature over Printed Name) REQUIRED TASK 1 Session 1 – The DepEd’s Mandate Required Task 1: Reflection Questions As a newly hired teacher in DepEd, what can you contribute to: a. promote quality education? As a new teacher , I can make learning fun. The traditional lecture is not the only method of instruction. In fact, recently developed educational philosophies like Integrative Learning discourage lectures. Instead, more engagement of the students in the learning activity is prescribed. Give group activities with few and simple directions. Involve the whole bodies and all senses of students in learning through activities like diagramming, drawing maps, role-playing of characters in the lesson, imitating animal sounds and movements, music appreciation, and the like. Adopt a multi-sensory approach, instead of sticking exclusively to the lecture method. Due to individual differences in sense modalities, not everyone is a good listener. Some pupils learn better by seeing, some by touch, feeling, or experiencing the concept with their bodies. Your lessons should be presented in a way that they will be understood and appreciated by all. REQUIRED TASK 1 b. uphold equity in education? Equity in the classroom, or supporting the outcomes of students of all backgrounds and abilities, is essential to a productive learning environment. As a Newly hired teacher I can use a variety of media(i.e. audio books nd movies) , provide supplemental materials to lesson plan and using technology as an integral part of teaching but also being mindful on the welfare of the students on how they will use it. c. respond to the needs of the learners? As a teacher I should know my audience and assess what they know and need. Then I can educate by attaching knowledge to what they know and build on it. I ask open ended generalized questions to assess, then focus on the missing pieces. REQUIRED TASK 2 A. Positive or Negative: Determine each teacher’s action if it signifies positive disciplinary action or negative disciplinary action. ACTION 1. Acting in the way that you want the children to act (modelling). 2. Forming small groups in online synchronous activities 3. Getting the student’s attention before you begin class 4. Making assumptions on student abilities without evidence or data 5. Using physical force ANSWERS POSITIVE FEEDBACK Set a good example for your students. Encourages cooperation and participation. POSITIVE POSITIVE NEGATIVE NEGATIVE The aids in establishing good classroom management and focusing on the lesson. Avoid passing judgement on student’s who have not been intervened with. Corporal punishment is by a not an option to any misbehavior of a student, and teacher’s are not permitted to use physical force because it violates the law of child protection policy.
