“THE SWORD IN THE STONE”.
Based on: Walt Disney’s Movie.
Adapted by: Isabel Amuchástegui Tessmann.
1
SCENE 1: “WHERE IT ALL BEGINS”.
NARRATOR 1: A Legend is sung of when England was young and knights were
brave and bold, the good king had died and no one could decide who was rightful
heir to the throne.
NARRATOR 2: It seemed that the land would be torn by war, or saved by a
miracle alone. And that miracle appeared in London town, the sword in the stone.
NARRATOR 3: And below the hilt, in letters of gold were written these words
“Whoso pullet out this sword of this stone and anvil is rightwise king born of
England”.
NARRATOR 4: Though many tried for the sword with all their strength , none could
move the sword, nor stir it. So the miracle had not worked. And Englad was still
without a king, and in time the marvelous sword was forgotten…
NARRATOR 5: This was a dark age, without law and without order men lived in
fear of one another, for the strong preyed upon the weak.
SCENE 2: “MERLIN AND ARCHIMEDES”
(WE SEE MERLIN THE SORCERER COLLECTING WATER FROM A WELL…).
MERLIN 1: (TALKING TO HIMSELF) A dark age, indeed!, age of inconvenience,
no plumbing, no electricity, no nothing… (FALLING INSIDE THE WELL AND
GETTING SOAKED) Oh oh oh hang it all! (HE COMES BACK) Oh, now what?
Now what? Leave off! (HE GOT STOCKED WITH THE WELLS CHAIN). UGGHH
everything is complicated in here…One big medieval mess.
(HE GETS INTO HIS CABIN AND STARTS TO HEAT WATER ON HIS TEAPOT
WHEN WE SEE ARCHIMEDES LEAVING HIS LITTLE BIRD HOUSE).
ARCHIMEDES 1: I know what you’re planning Merlin, you’re creating a prediction
about someone coming and I want to know who’s the one who’s coming?.
MERLIN 1: I told Archimedes, I am not sure. All I know is that someone will be
coming, someone very important.
ARCHIMEDES 1: Oh, pin feathers.
MERLIN 1: Fate will direct him to me so that I in turn may guide him to his rightful
place in the world.
ARCHIMEDES 1: Haha, and you say he will arrive in half an hour?. Hahaha We´ll
just see…
2
MERLIN 1: And you will Archimedes, you will… (HE LIGHTS HIS PIPE ON AND
SITS IN HIS COUCH). He’ll be a boy, a small boy, eleven or maybe twelve years
old…and a scrawny little fellow… Like a little grasshopper.
ARCHIMEDES 1: And where, where would you guess he is at this very moment?.
MERLIN 1: I’m not guessing Archimedes, I know where he is!. Mmmmm… Less
than a mile from here, just beyond the forest. And right in schedule if all goes well.
SCENE 3: “WHEN WRAT ARRIVES”.
(WE SEE ATRHUR BETTER KNOWN AS WART RUNNING THROUGH THE
FORREST HE HAD A MISSUNDERSTANDING WITH KAY, SIR. ECTOR’S
SON).
KAY 1: Quiet Wart. I told you, nobody asked you to come in the first place.
ARTHUR 1: I’m not even moving.
KAY 1: Close your mouth, A-ha here we go… (HE GETS READY TO HUNT A
DEER BUT SUDDENLY ARTHUR FELLS DOWN THE BRANCH HE WAS ON
AND THE DEER ESCAPES, ARTHUR STARTS RUNNING).
KAY 1: Oh, you clumpsy little fool!. (HE RUNS AFTER ARTHUR TO PUNISH
HIM).
(ARTHUR MANAGES TO SCAPE, SUDDENLY HE STEPS ON SOMETHING
WEAK AND IT HAPPENS TO BE MERLIN’S CABIN SEALING).
MERLIN 2: Well… So, you did drop in for tea, after all. (COUGHING) Oh, you are
a bit late, you know…
ARTHUR 1: Oh, I am?.
MERLIN 2: Oh yes Sir. Now… My name is Merlin.
ARTHUR 1: My Name is Arthur but everyone calls me Wart. (HE FIND OUT
ARCHIMEDES AND TRY TO TOUCH HIM, BUT ARCHIMEDES FLIES OUT). Oh,
what a perfect stuffed owl.
ARCHIMEDES 2: Stuffed, BAH I beg your pardon!.
ARTHUR 1: He’s alive, and he talks!.
ARCHIMEDES 2: And certainly a great deal better than you do.
3
MERLIN 2: Oh come on, Archimedes… You must forgive him, he’s only a boy.
ARTHUR 1: I’m sorry, I really am… Sir, let me ask you something, how did you
know that I was coming.
MERLIN 2: Well my dear Wrat, I happen to be a wizard, a prognosticator. I have
the power to see into the future. Centuries into the future.
ARTHUR 1: You mean you can see everything before it happens?.
MERLIN 2: Yeees, everything.
ARTHUR 1: You’re very clever Sir.
MERLIN 2: Boy you can’t grow up without a decent education, you know. So I’m
going to be your tutor.
ARTHUR 1: Well, I appreciate it Sir, but I need to go back to the castel, they
expected me to be in the kitchen.
MERLIN 2: Ok, ok, ok, we’ll pack and be on our way.
ARCHIMEDES 2: MH MH MH MH…
MERLIN 2: We`re all going Archimedes, watch this kid, you’re gonna like it.
SONG 1: PACKING SONG “HOCKETY POCKETY”.
SCENE 4: “INTO THE FORREST”.
(THEY START THEIR JOURNEY TO THE CASTLE, WHEN THEY GET INSIDE
THE FOREST WE SEE A SILLY WOLF CHASING THEM).
MERLIN 3: First thing tomorrow morning, we’ll start a full schedule, eight hours a
day
ARTHUR 2: But I don’t have the time, I have page duties.
MERLIN 3: We’ll change all that, there’s got to be a shake-up. How do you expect
to amount to anything without education?.
By the way, what direction is this castle of yours?.
ARTHUR 2: I think it’s north, the other way.
ARCHIMEDES 3: HAHAHA it’s all happening just the way I thought it would be…
HAHAHAHAHA.
4
MERLIN 3: All right, all right. We’d better get a move on. Come on, pick up the
pace.
(WHILE TTHEY’RERECOVERING THEIR PATH, THE WOLF IS PANTING AT
THE TOP OF ONE OF THE FOREST MOUNTAINS, HE’S SUFFERED MANY
KNOCKS AND FALLS TRYING TO CHASE THEM).
ARCHIMEDES 3: I knew since the beginning this wasn’t the best idea…
SCENE 5: THE CASTLE.
(WE SEE MERLIN, ARCHIMEDES, WART AND THE WOLF APPROACHING
THE CASTLE).
SIR.ECTOR 1: Oh, the devil take it. Anyone’s got better sense than go barging off
in that infernal forest alone. You had no business letting him go.
KAY 2: Look, dad. I’m not the Wart’s keeper.
SIR.ECTOR 1: Well, blast it all, I am!. After all I took him in, adopted the lad you
might say. Being his foster father, I’m responsible.
(SUDDENLY ARTHUR COMES IN WITH MERLIN AND ARCHIMEDES).
SIR. ECTOR 1: Look here. What’s the big idea of getting lost in the woods and
worrying everybody?. That’s four demerits, four extra hours in the kitchen duty.
ARTHUR 3: I’m sorry, sir. I will do it all, but I’d like you to meet… (SIR. ECTOR
INTERRUPTS HIM AND WART LEAVES FAST).
SIR. ECTOR 1: You’ve got to keep a schedule to run a place like this, you need
strict rules, specially for small boys.
ARCHIMEDES 4: And I most certainly agree.
MERLIN 4: Hello Sir. My name is Merlin and this is Archimedes the highlyeducated owl.
SIR. ECTOR 1: Educated owl? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA… Ohhh I know, you`re a
Magician you got Wart on a spell.
MERLIN 4: Let me show you what I can do… (HE PRONOUNCES A SPELL AND
SUDDENLY IT START SNOWING ON TOP OF SIR. ECTOR). This is what I call a
“wizard blizzard” hahaha.
SIR. ECTOR 1: Ok, “Marvin” shut it down now, I’m convinced…
5
MERLIN 4: My magic is used mainly for educational purposes. In fact this is what I
came for, I have come to educate the Wart.
SIR. ECTOR 1: Oh, no you don´t, you’re wrong if you think you’re gonna fiddle with
my schedule, pack up your bags, your tricks and be gone… (MERLIN
DISAPPEAR).
ARCHIMEDES 4: (IN OFF VOICE): We’re gone, but then we’re not gone… So, If
we do leave you can never be sure that we’re gone.
KAY 2: Holy Moly, they’re good… (THEY APPEAR AGAIN).
ARTHUR 3: Sir. They need to stary here, it is already late.
SIR. ECTOR 1: (WALKING THEM TO THEIR NEW ROOM) Well, all we can offer
is a room and board in the Northwest tower of the castle, hard times you know
“Marvin”…
MERLIN 4: Oh yes, I think it’s lovely indeed.
KAY 2: Make yourself at home Marvin.
MERLIN 4: Marvin, Marvin, Marvin…
SCENE 6: “THE NEWS & TRAINING”.
NARRATOR 6: Big new, very big news. They’re having a big tournament New
Year’s Day and here’s where all the excitement comes in… To the winner of this
tournament goes the crown. King of all England will be.
NARRATOR 7: Next morning, Sir. Ector started training Kay, he wanted to make
him ready to be the next king of England, but he wasn’t good at all, Merlin thought
it was a waste of time trying to get him ready… “One dummy trying to knock off
another dummy with a bit of a stick” He said… Hahaha.
ARCHIMEDES 5: I think the Wart’s just as hot for it as the rest of them.
MERLIN 5: He certainly is. That boy’s got real spark. Lots of spirit, throws himself
heart and soul into everything he does. That’s really worth something turned in the
right direction.
ARCHIMEDES 5: Hahaha fat chance of that…
MERLIN 5: Well I plan to cheat of course Archimedes, use magic. Every last trick
in the trade is I have to.
6
NARRATOR 8: Warts “education” started, merlin is up to teach him how to know
all of his virtues and use them when necessary. The most important one
imagination, if I may say. Step by step Wart’s been gaining skills.
ARTHUR 4: Sir. Can you turn ourselves into animals, for example a fish?.
MERLIN 5: Well after all I happen to be a wizard, but can you imagine yourself as
a fish?. Because if you do, the I think my magic can do the rest… Archimedes what
was the fish formula?
ARCHIMEDES 5: Oh oh oh oh, “aquarius, aquaticus, aqualitus”. And if you don’t
mind I say good day to the both of you. If you please let me rest.
MERLIN 5: When he stays out all night he’s always grumpy the next morning.
ARTHUR 4: Hahaha he must stay out every night.
NARRATOR 9: When Merlin casts the spell on Wart he immediately becomes a
fish, same as Merlin and the get into the forests lake, it is the beginning of their
amazing educational journey, day by day , ups and downs but always getting
improvements.
SONG 2: “THAT’S WHAT MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND”.
NARRATOR 9: Somehow there’s always something scary chasing them or making
them feel insecure, afraid or in danger. But they always make their way out safely. I
think that could be something great to achieve.
SCENE 7: “BACK IN THE CASTLE”.
NARRATOR 10: Merlin, Archimedes and Wart faced endless adventures, from
being chased by a silly wolf to having a torrid romance with a pair of squirrel sisters
and let me tell you something that was the hardest battle to win… After so many
adventures they’re back in the castle.
KITCHEN LADY: Sir. Ector, Sir. Ector the kitchen is under an evil spell, it’s
bewitched!.
SIR. ECTOR 2: No no Ma’am, I bet it’s that old goat “Marvin” thing, let’s see.
7
NARRATOR 11: We See Sir.Ector and Kay fighting against the dishes, they’re
under a spell, Merlin spelled them. That was the only way to educate the Wart
without his work being threatened.
SIR ECTOR 2: What’s the idea of flinging your evil spells all over the place
“Marvin”?.
MERLIN 6: It was the only way to get Wart “Castle dutties” done while we are on
his educactional time.
SIR. ECTOR 2: BAAAAAH!!, Look here boy. If you want to make that trip to
London you’d better be toe the mark.
KITCHEN LADY: (TO MERLIN) YOU OLD GOAT! If I ever see you again in my
Kitchen…
MERLIN 6: Oh no my lady you won’t… (HE DISSAPEARS).
KITCHEN LADY: Oh my, Oh my… (SHE FAINTS).
KAY 3: We ought to run the old geezer right out of the castle…
ARTHUR 5: He’s nothing but a great Magician, and his magic is good too. If you
just leave him alone. Just because you can’t understand something it doesn’t mean
its wrong. You make all the rules and nobdy else can say anything.
KAY 3: You’ve said enough Wart, Dad you should do something with him.
SIR. ECTOR 2: Oh but I will son. Kay, from now on young Hobbs is your squire.
Did you hear that Wart?. You’re fired.
ARTHUR 5: Yes, Sir.
(WART IS CRYING INSIDE THE KITCHEN HE DOESN’T KNOW WHAT TO DO
NOW WITHOUT A JOB, SUDDELNY ARCHIMEDES CAMES IN).
ARCHIMEDES 6: Ok boy, now is your turn to put all of your acknowledgment
together, you gotta go to London it was a very important trip for yourself. Now, Are
you willing to try?.
ARTHUR 5: You’re right Archimedes, what have I got to lose?.
NARRATOR 12: Next morning they start the study sessions again, they found out
Wart was able to finally read and write, and when they felt Wart was ready to fly,
Merlin converted him into a bird, but when they started their way flying to London,
they faced a terrible threat, a big eagle was chasing them, fortunately their magic
helped them escape again and they landed safe into an old lady’s house.
8
SCENE 8: “MADAME MIM’S HOUSE”.
(WE SEE A FUNNY “KOO-KOO” LADY TALKING BY HERSELF AND PLAYING
SOLITAIRE WITH POKER CARDS WHILE ARTHUR LANDS ON HIS HOUSE,
HE GETS INSIDE BY THE FIRE AND HE’S COUGHING, HE’S COVERED IN
FIRE DUST).
MADAME MIM: Mmmm, sounds like someone’s sick, how lovely… I do hope it’s
serious, something dreadful. Oh here it is, a little sparrow cover in dust.
ARTHUR 6: Oh no Ma’am I’m not really a sparrow, I’m a boy… Merlin changed me
with his magic, he’s a wonderful wizard.
MADAME MIM: Merlin? Hahahaha “The world’s most powerful bungler” hahaha,
come on boy I’ve got more magic in one little finger haha. Don’t tell me you’ve
never heard of the marvelous Madam Mim?.
ARTHUR 6: Well no, I don’t guess so…
(WHILE SHE’S TALKING TO ARTHUR ARCHIMEDES NOTICED HE’S WITH
HER, AND HE LEAVES TO LET MERLIN KNOW WHATS HAPPENING).
MADAME MIM: Well boy I’m amazing, I’m Marvelous, just sit and listen…
SONG 3: “MADAME MIM”.
MADAME MIM: Now boy, tell me who’s the greatest?.
ARTHUR 6: Well Madame, Merlin’s magic is always useful for something good.
MADAME MIM: Oh and he must see something good in you.
ARTHUR 6: Well, I suppose so…
MADAME MIM: Yeaaah and in my book that`s no good. So my boy, I’m afraid I’ll
have to destroy you… Well as you can see I LOVE games so you gotta keep your
toes in this game if you want to survive HAHAHAHAHA.
NARRATOR 13: She starts the battle, she’s trying to get Arthur ,but he’s running
fast so she can’t get him, suddenly Arthur falls down and oh boy it looks like that’s
the end of the battle for him, but something good is about to happen Merlin and
Archimedes have arrived.
9
MERLIN 7: Mim, Mim, Mim, what are you up to?.
MADAME MIM: Oh Merlin, Well, you’re just in time we were playing a little game.
ARTHUR 6: She was going to destroy me.
MADAME MIM: And what you’re gonna do about it? Want to fight Merlin? Want to
have a wizards’ duel?.
MERLIN 7: As you wish Madame.
MADAME MIM: Then let’s get out of here and start what you want Merlin.
MERLIN 7: After you Madame…
NARRATOR 14: They’re out in the woods, we are about to witness one of the
most epic and majestic duels between two magnificent wizards, I think it's time to
choose a side… Who will be the winner?.
SCENE 9: “THE BATTLE”.
SONG 4: “THE WIZARDS BATTLE”.
NARRATOR 15: Each one is using their best moves from being a crocodile to a
bug and not get caught by their opponent. At the end of the battle Merlin beats
Madam Mim, she got sunlight and got blisters, she’s in bed now, she knows she’s
the loser this time…
MERLIN 8: Oh it’s not too serious Madame, you should recover in a few weeks
and be as good, I mean, as bad as ever, get some rest you’ll need it hihihihi.
(THEY LEAVE MADAME MIM’S HOUSE).
ARTHUR 7: You’ve been great Merlin. But you could have been killed.
MERLIN 8: It was worth it Lad, if you learned something from it.
ARTHUR 7: “Knowledge and wisdom is the real power”
ARCHIMEDES 7: Right you are Wart, stick to your schooling boy.
ARTHUR 7: Oh, don’t worry. I will Sir. I will.
ARCHIMEDES 7: Don’t be so dramatic boy…
MERLIN 8: And I recommend you to be in a better mood Archimedes… Hahaha.
10
NARRATOR 16: Arthur continue their path to London, he needs to get there before

SIR. ECTOR 3: Kay! Now it’s up to the swords.
ARTHUR 8: Swords? Swords? Oh my God… Kay, I… I forgot your sword.
KAY 4: You forgot whaaaaat?.
ARTHUR 8: I’m sorry, I left it back at the inn.
KAY 4: Ohh, you fool boy, you’d better get it, or don’t you dare come back!.
NARRATOR 17: Arthur starts running, he’s gone trying to find Kay’s sword,
Archimedes is with him, but the Inn is closed, everybody is gone for the

ARTHUR 8: (KNOCKING AT THE DOOR) Let me in, please someone let me in!.
ARCHIMEDES 8: It’s no use boy, they’ve all gone to the tournament.
ARTHUR 8: Oh, what will I do, Kay’s got to have a sword.
ARCHIMEDES 8: Look boy, look. There in the churchyard.
ARTHUR 8: A sword, Oh Archimedes. A sword!. (HE GOES WHERE THE
SWORD IS, BUT THEY NOTICE IT IS BURIED IN A STONE).
ARCHIMEDES 8: You’re gonna have a time pulling it out. (ARTHUR GIVES IT A
SHOT AND SOMETHING WEIRD STARTS HAPPENING). Oh watch it boy!.
Better leave it alone.
ARTHUR 8: But Kay’s got to have a sword. (HE PULLS THE SWORD AGAIN,
THIS TIME HE PULLS THE SWORD OUT FROM THE STONE).
ARCHIMEDES 8: Now come on, quick. Let’s get out of here.
11
NARRATOR 18: They start running on their way back to where Sir.Ector and Kay
were, Arthur gives the sword he got from that stone to Kay.
SCENE 11: “ARTHUR THE KING OF ENGLAND”.
ARTHUR 9: Here Kay, here’s this sword.

ENGLISH KNIGHT: This can not be true!, It’s the marvelous sword! Hold
everything,, someone’s pulled the sword from the stone!.
SIR. ECTOR 3: Where did you get it Wart?.
ARTHUR 9: I pulled it out of an anvil that was on a stone in, in a churchyard.
ENGLISH KNIGHT: Hahahaha sure…
KAY 5: You’re making a fool of us boy, now tell the truth.
ARTHUR 9: But I did, Sir.
SIR. ECTOR 3: Come on, prove it. (HE PULLS ARTHUR WHERE THE STONE
IS).
ENGLISH KNIGHT: Yes, prove it. Hahaha.
NARRATOR 18: They all went to the place where the stone was, Sir. Ector soon
put the sword back in the stone and challenged several knights including Kay
before Arthur tries it again to show it was impossible for him to do it. Now is
Arthur’s turn…
SIR. ECTOR 3: All right boy, let’s have the miracle.
(ARTHUR GETS THE SWORD OUT AGAIN EVERYONE IS WATCHING).
NARRATOR 19: It’s a Miracle, ordained by heaven. This boy is our king
ENGLISH KNIGHT: Well, What’s the lad’s name?.
KAY 5: Wart… Oh I mean, Arthur.

ENGLISH KNIGHT: Hail, King Arthur!, Long live the King!.
ARCHIMEDES 9: Hooo ho ho ho, I can’t believe it!.
NARRATOR 19: Sir. Ector asked Kay to bow before his King, Kay do as told and
apologizes too. Arthur asked them not to apologize anymore.
So, at last the miracle had come to pass in that far-off time upon New Year’s day.
And the glorious reign of King Arthur was begun.
