DEPARTMENT OF PEDODONTICS AND PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY EARLY CHILDHOOD CARIES Early Childhood caries is defined as “the presence of one or more decayed (non cavitated or cavitated lesion) ,missing teeth (due to caries) or filled tooth surfaces in any primary tooth in a child under the age of 6”(AAPD 2014) Synonyms : Baby bottle caries, Baby bottle tooth decay, Bottle rot, Nursing bottle caries, Nursing bottle mouth, Nursing bottle syndrome, Milk bottle syndrome, Maternally derived streptococcus mutans disease (MDSMD).
