Your review must be at least three hundred words, and you must reference at least 2 peer-reviewed sources and include 1 Biblical integration. Your post must include the following sections (denote each with a heading): a. A definition and discussion of the topic. b. A Biblical comparison. c. Create 2–3 discussion questions for your classmates to answer in their replies. d. References in current APA format. Definition and Discussion – Crashing can be defined as shortening an activity or project. Many factors can play a role in limiting a project and the reach. Schedule and cost are two primary factors that play into the project’s success of failure. When dealing with a limited budget or resources, decisions taking alternative routes must be made to keep the project on schedule and budget (Larson & Gray, 2021). Crashing would come in by changing this schedule “necessary crashing schedules must be planned in advance to complete projects on time,” (Yang & Wang, 2019). Crashing becomes necessary due to the many moving parts within a project. Direct costs are often immediately identified, however sometimes indirect costs are overlooked. These indirect expenses often include overhead, indirect supplies, equipment rentals, etc. By crashing within the project, it affects the length of the project, which affects the amount of time, thus affecting costs (Sharma et al., 2020). Biblical Comparison – In Luke chapter 14 verses 28-30, Jesus teaches about preparing for a project. When a project manager does not count the cost accurately, the project can be delayed or left incomplete. “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish” (King James Bible, 2017, Luke. 14:28-30). Time can be a major restriction in a project’s life cycle. Maintaining effect time-cost ratio is imperative to ensure a project is completed, but also that the result is profitable. God has laid a plan out for our lives and walk with Him, by stray from this we find many hardships. An effective project plan eliminates the needs for crashing by being efficient as possible from the beginning. Discussion Questions – If a project is not adhering to a schedule, how would you get it back on track? How would you shorten a project that has budgeting issues? What are the five common reasons for a crashing project? References: King James Bible. (2017). King James Bible Online. https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/ Larson, E. W., & Gray, C. F. (2021). Crashing would come in by changing the schedule “necessary crashing schedules must be planned in advance to complete projects on time,” (Yang & Wang, 2019). Crashing becomes necessary due to the many moving parts within a project. This does allow project managers which tasks to shorten, and where to reduce costs. You are right in the fact that the critical path cannot be shortened. While crashing a project can increase costs, if you are shortening the length of the project overall, you are reducing costs whether direct or indirect. By crashing a project, the project is shortened in time shorten thus reducing cost. This can include overhead and indirect costs (Sharma et al., 2020). This is crash cost, and the most realistic way to reduce costs to the lowest amount possible. I really liked the verse your chose for your biblical integration. I chose Luke 14 verse 28-30 “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish” (King James Bible, 2017, Luke. 14:28-30). Jesus is teaching on how to prepare for a project and completion of a project in this passage. When a project manager does not count the cost accurately, the project can be delayed or left incomplete. I would logically perform well in the face of heightened stress in a shorter timeline. I thrive in high stress situations, so I believe I would be able to perform well. To request more resources from the higher-level management for my project, I would follow like the Red Zuma Project in sending a memo with all the pertinent information, and why it is needed. Your last question is a difficult one, if quality were to be compromised, I would inform top level management, as if I did not, I would be compromising my integrity. This way they may work out an extension. References: King James Bible. (2017). King James Bible Online. https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/ Larson, E. W., & Gray, C. F. (2021). Bringing in more workers could help, but long periods of overtime are not beneficial for a project. This will cause low morale amongst employees. I know personally, long periods of overtime are exhausting. Disadvantages of overtime can include, low morale, bitterness, high turnover, significant increase of costs, and many others. The quick and dirty way is not an efficient way to run business, especially with integrity. The way for a project that does not seem to be working would be crashing. In Proverbs chapter 14 verse 20-23, we are told that in all labor there is profit. Those who despise a neighbor sins, but those with mercy on the poor are happy “The poor is hated even of his own neighbor: but the rich hath many friends. He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he. Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good. In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury” (King James Bible, 2017, Proverbs. 14:2023). I think this can apply to overtime, if you are rich (from overtime) but miserable, it is a bad thing. But if you are poor but happy then it is okay. References: King James Bible. (2017).
