Required Task 1: Reflection Questions
Reflect on the DepEd’s mandate and respond to the
questions below. You may respond in 2-5 sentences
for each.
As a newly hired teacher in DepEd, what can you
contribute to:
a. Promote quality education?
As a 21st Century teacher, technology plays a vital
role in promoting quality education. Young learners are
more adept with technological skills, so by integrating
technology into the classroom, I can instantly help
students learn better and faster. It is also very helpful to
empathize with our learners so we can personalize the
learning experience to meet the needs of each individual
learner. And one of the most important stakeholders of the
education process must also be involved – the parents. It
is best that parents are informed and well updated of the
learners’ performance. Lastly, teaching is a two-way
process, so students should be empowered to be active
learners.
Required Task 1: Reflection Questions
Reflect on the DepEd’s mandate and respond to the
questions below. You may respond in 2-5 sentences
for each.
As a newly hired teacher in DepEd, what can you
contribute to:
b. Uphold equity in education?
Promoting equity in education begins with selfawareness. We must understand how our identification
within a particular group gives us a privilege in certain
spaces and we must be open to actively listen to
marginalized groups who experience life differently
because of their social groupings. We must acknowledge
our personal biases and seek to understand people with
different experiences.
Required Task 1: Reflection Questions
Reflect on the DepEd’s mandate and respond to the
questions below. You may respond in 2-5 sentences
for each.
As a newly hired teacher in DepEd, what can you
contribute to:
c. Respond to the needs of the learners?
As a teacher, taking a bit of time and care to get to
know them as individual impacts the learning process of
the students. Beyond just finding out the learners’ names,
ages, friendship groups, and family backgrounds, it is
important to dig a bit deeper and discover their learning
interests and strengths.
My vision is to inspire a lifelong love
for learning by creating lessons that
are exciting, authentic, engaging,
and relevant to the lives of my
students.
My vision for my future class is to
create an atmosphere where each
individual feels accepted and
valued.
My vision for my school
community is to emphasize equity,
academic excellence, reflective
practices, curriculum integration,
and advocacy.
Required Task 1: Application
Scenario 1:
Teacher Johanna is a Grade 7 teachers at Jacobo Z.
Gonzales Memorial National High School. She
encourages her learners to demonstrate their love of
country through practicing acts of kindness inside and
outside the school premises. Provide at least two ways of
integrating this in her lessons. You may respond in 3-5
sentences.
Teacher Johanna can have an open fishbowl discussion.
It provides learners the opportunity hear issues, and to
participate in the discussions about important concerns.
Essay writing can also make students put their
understanding into written form.
KEY TOPIC 2: DEPED’S MISSION
Required Task 1: Application
Scenario 2:
One of the Grade 9 advisory of Teacher Andrew is
showing interest in joining scouting. However, the
student is very shy and timid. In what ways can Teacher
Andrew help his learners to gain confidence and
participate in scouting? You may respond in 3-5
sentences.
As a teacher, he has the opportunity to positively
influence his students and encourage them to feel proud
of their abilities and accomplishments. He can make it
a point to praise and acknowledge students when they
do something correctly. Specific praise helps students
know that he’s paying attention and helps them
acknowledge their own small wins.
Required Task 2: Application
Scenario 1:
Teacher Helga is a Grade 1 teacher at Biñan Elementary
School. She is teaching Science. She wants to make sure
that she can provide a child-friendly, gender-sensitive,
safe, and motivating environment in her class. What
should she do to achieve this? You may respond in3-5
sentences.
To ensure a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe and
motivating environment, she can create a learning setting
which is conducive and inclusive. She can set rules for her
class to follow. She should also establish a supportive
learning culture which involves students as active
participants in learning.
Required Task 3: Application
Scenario 1:
Teacher Luis is a Grade 10 guidance counselor and a Values
Education teacher at Arellano High School. One of his
classes has a diverse religious background. One day, two of
the learners insisted that the class should start with a prayer
led by an assigned students. This leads to a heated debate
arguing about their own religious and spiritual beliefs. How
can Teacher Luis mediate and help resolve the argument?
(You may refer to Department Order (No. 32, s. 2013) and
Department Order (69, s. 1990)).
One of the best ways to mediate and resolve
this argument is to teach the learners the concept of
respect. Teacher Luis can ask his students to find
common grounds of the different religions and
explain the differences. Teacher Luis then can draft a
prayer in a poetic form without being specific of the
religion.
Required Task 3: Application
Scenario 2:
The DepEd Core Values teaches us the love for God
(maka-Diyos), love for fellow men (maka-tao), love for
nature (makakalikasan), and love for country
(makabansa). Teacher Molina inspires her Grade 2
learners to become a better version of themselves through
exemplifying qualities and characters of our national
heroes. What classroom management strategies can
Teacher Molina employ to encourage learners to apply
the DepEd core values in real life situations?
Practice patience – Teacher Molina should
understand that her learners come from different
background and social environment. She can
integrate her lessons to the core values in which the
learners can apply. Lastly, instead of focusing on
specific students, she can offer praises for the
behavior she wants to reinforce.
My vision is to inspire a lifelong
love for learning by creating lessons
that are exciting, authentic,
engaging, and relevant to the lives
of my students.
My vision for my class is an
atmosphere where each individual
feels accepted and valued.
My vision for my school
community is to emphasize equity,
academic excellence, reflective
practice, curriculum integration
and advocacy.
1. Observe the learners.
2. Innovate

PLEDGE OF COMMITMENT
I pledge to make full use of my skills and talents in order
to offer the best instruction of which I am capable. I
promise to never stop learning, for a teacher should
always remain a learner too. I will exercise patience and
tolerance in my classroom and I will foster a supportive
environment for all my learners.
Required Task 3: Reflection
2. In what ways has this module helped you reflect on
the Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Strategic
Directions of the Department of Education?
This module helped me realize how vital my
function is in building the nation and producing
students who are well-equipped with lifelonglearning skills. It also helped me appreciate more this
kind of profession that I chose. Thus, it rekindled the
passion burning within me in aspiring to become a
committed teacher.
1. How has this module helped you clarify your vision
and motivations in serving your learners better and
in promoting a learner-centered environment for
them?
This module helped me realize that in order to
teach effectively, I have to improve and learn more.
Hence, my learning is for the benefit also of my
students, not only mine. My improvement means a
better learning experience for the learners.
Required Task 3: Reflection
3. What are your personal beliefs and values that are
aligned with the DepEd’s VMV (Vision, Mission, Core
Values)?
I believe that children have the right to have quality
education. I also believe that we should produce, not
only academically excellent learners, but also learners
who excel holistically, thus, the realization of the DepEd
Core Values. I think, the main objective of DepEd’s
VMV is not only for the good of the learners but also for
the progress of our nation.
I learned from watching PPST explainer video the
relevance of professional standards in the
continued professional growth and improvement
of teachers. It is dedicated to assisting teachers and
acknowledging the evidence that effective teachers
are critical to improving student achievement.
The video explainer explained everything I need to
know about PPST.
Study the rationale of the Implementing Guidelines of
the DepEd School Calendar for the current school year.
The purpose of School Calendar of Activities is
to keep students, faculty and staff reminded of key dates
throughout the academic year. One of its main reasons
why DepEd implements School Calendar is not only to
school activities but also to promote time management.
With the help of School Calendar, teachers and
administrators are able to keep track of the schedule of
deadlines of reports, thus the efficiency of work is being
maintained and practiced. It also notes some of the
important dates to be observed.

False
True
The DepEd School Calendar for each school year
sets the specific dates for opening and closing day
of classes.
The purpose for this is to make up classes that wre
postponed because of local activities.
True
The purpose of in-service trainings is not only for
teachers but for the benefits of students too.
True
The main concern of parent-teacher conference is
to discuss the learners’ progress.
False
The schools have the discretionary actions to
suspend classes for the safety of learners.
True
Learning should not stop. There are modes of
learning delivery to continue education.
a. Librarian/LR
MDS
Coordinator
c. Guidance
Counselor
It is the duty of the LRMDS Coordinator
to lead in the distribution and utilization of
learning resources in the school. He also
leads in the establishment, proper
utilization and maintenance of school
libraries and Learning Resource Centers.
He also provides technical assistance to coteachers in the development, production,
and storage of learning resources.
The role of guidance counselors in schools
is to work with students and parents to
help guide students’ academic, behavioral
and social growth.
b. Guidance
Coordinator/
Teacher
d.
Administrative
Officer
A guidance coordinator/teacher assists
and advises students about academic
and personal decisions.
A school administrative officer is
responsible to the Principal or the
supervisor for providing assistance in
school routines, classroom activities,
and financial and administrative
matters.
c. Property
Custodian
The designated Property Custodian performs
important workloads that include the receipt,
issuance, and maintenance, safekeeping of
supplies, materials and equipment, and often
other properties and facilities of the school.
When that happens, the best way to deal with it is to
talk to the parents and students of both parties. I can ask help
from the guidance counselor of the school to mediate
between the two parties and to counsel the students involved.
As a colleague, it is good to help Teacher Mary Ann
but not at the expense of my classes. I will have to direct her
situation to the school head or the focal person of her grade
level to help in arranging her classes and find substitute
teachers to take her classes while she is gone.
First, I would have to talk to Lito and hear him out.
As the adviser, I have the task to weigh things first before
deciding on what to do. Considering Lito’s diligence and
commitment to the school, I would have to advise him to take
things slowly and manage his priorities. While it is
commendable to be committed in doing his job as the
president of the Supreme Student Government, still he should
not forget to prioritize his studies. After talking to Lito, I
would ask help from his subject teachers and ask them if they
can give him a chance and intervention for his remediation.
Lastly, I would talk to his SSG Adviser to lessen his
workloads so he can cope with his curricular activities.

Inclusive Education
Teachers should accept all learners regardless
of their religion or condition and teach them
respect.
Diversity of Learners
Learners have different learning styles
and talents that need to be nurtured
Help learners understand each other’s
differences and respect each other without
judgment.
Create various opportunities for learners
considering their skills to hone their talents
and release their potentials.
True

your classroom strategy.
True
Being confident gives your students and
parents assurance that they can count on
you.
False
As a teacher, there are jobs that are
sometimes beyond our job description, yet
it is part of our growth.
True
As teachers, we set examples not only to
our learners but also to our colleagues.
True
Setting rules in the class helps you in
managing your students.
1. A teacher plays an important role in the lives of his/her
learners. What defines a teacher is his/her ability to
teach students and instill a positive influence on them.
Being a teacher goes beyond just teaching according to
the curriculum, it is about grooming in the child.
Teachers don’t only impart knowledge, but they also
help with character building as well.
2. Learners become confident in confiding their problems
to the teachers in a sense that they know there are
boundaries. Learners strive hard, not only on academic
aspect, but also when it comes to improving themselves
as a whole.
3. My experience as a classroom adviser is actually a
mixture of frustration and fulfillment. It’s frustrating
when learners tend to forget and neglect what I teach
them. It’s like my teachings are not reaching them and it
is not enough. But it becomes fulfilling when I get a
chance to see them successfully attain their goals even in
their own small ways.

Ensure appropriate
implementation of homeroom
guidance class parallel to the
national/regional/division
guidelines.
The angry student looks sullen, with a chip on his shoulder.
No matter what you do, he will resist your effort.
Stay neutral and do not judge the student, or trust may be
breached.
The withdrawn student.
At the end of the conversation, summarize what you heard and
ask the student to do the same.
The student who is in over her head she feels like she is so far
behind.
Show compassion and empathy in your manner and style.
The procrastinator continually plays games with you.
The overly social student is always flirting or disturbing others
around him.
Listen not only for what the student is saying but also try to
understand the meaning on non-verbal gestures.
If you must ask questions, do not interrogate, ask open-ended
inquiries that encourage them to elaborate.
Punishment with physical force is not a
solution to tardiness. Before passing judgment on the
student, why not inquire first as to why they are late.
Unless we ask, we will never know the cause of their
tardiness. Like Rhea, she does not like being late to
school, but she is compelled to do so for various
reasons, including the need to cook food for her
siblings and a lack of funds for transportation. As her
teachers, we must be considerate of our students.
They do not deserve full blame for being late;
instead, we must demonstrate to the student what we
intend to work together to solve the problem and that
they are not alone. We can give them extra time after
class to catch up on the lessons they missed.
Embarrassing Marcus in front of the class is
not the best way to discipline him; it could either
worsen the situation or make him become more
aggressive in fighting back. What the teacher could
do to promote positive discipline among the
students, such as Marcus, is to figure out why they
misbehave in the first place. Sometimes students
misbehave because they have problems at home,
and school serves as a safe place for them to forget
about their problems. Marcus can be spoken to
privately by the teacher, who can calmly explain
his misbehavior.
Inform him about the class’ rules and
regulations, as well as the consequences of their
actions. If Marcus is the type of student who
requires extra attention, assign him to group
projects and make him the group leader; by doing
so, Marcus will feel like he is a part of the class and
will learn to collaborate with his classmates.
Since not all students learn in the same way,
teachers must be aware of their students’ unique
learning styles. Clark’s behavior in class, in which
he consistently gives incorrect answers, does not
indicate that he is not paying attention; rather, it
indicates that he does not understand the lesson.
This makes him fearful of participating in
class because he believes his classmates will mock
him.
Clark could benefit from a remedial lesson
after class, which the teacher could provide.
Discuss with him what he didn’t understand in the
lesson and give him remedial activities to help him
understand it better.
Embarrassing the students in class when
they give incorrect answers will discourage the
students from learning or attending school.
If students are uninterested in going to
school, there could be several reasons for this.
As in Elna’s case, the teacher is the reason she
no longer wishes to attend school. Elna’s
teacher’s behavior is completely unacceptable;
she should be the one to treat her students with
respect and not pass judgment on them; it is her
responsibility to make her students feel safe in
the classroom and not to discourage them from
attending.
She should be the one to change her
attitude toward her students; reprimanding
Elna for behavior and issuing a final warning is
not the appropriate solution because it
demonstrates that the teacher is unconcerned
about Elna.
If a teacher notices bullying in the
classroom, he/she must act quickly to stop it.
The first thing that he/she should do is
speak privately with the students who are bullying
his/her classmates and ask why he/she is doing it.
Make sure your students understand how
bullying affects people and the consequences of
bullying others at school. If the first action fails,
seek the assistance of parents and a guidance
counselor to discuss a solution to the problem.
Due to the pandemic, schools were forced
to switch from face-to-face to online education.
Students were forced to study online on
the spur of the moment, which caused anxiety
and stress. What the teacher could do is be
considerate of the students’ circumstances. Allow
enough time for them to submit their
requirements.
Always encourage them, even if it’s just
short phrase like “You can do this”. Recognize
that everyone is going through a difficult time. If
Janelle is unable to access online learning, the
teacher should provide Janelle with other options
for continuing her education.
If Allen was unable to participate in the
lesson due to poor internet connection, the
teacher should provide him with printed materials
that are aligned with their lessons so that he
would not be left behind his classmates.
B. Develop

C. Maximize the
child’s active
participation
A. Develop
prosocial
behavior, selfdiscipline, and
character
F. Assure fairness
(equity and nondiscrimination)
and justice
Resolve the misbehavior in a
timely manner.
Maintain adherence to the lesson
plan so that your lesson activity
guides you. When doing group
activities, always include a time
limit so that students are aware of
how much time is left.
Address the misbehavior in a
proper manner by speaking with
them privately and explaining their
inappropriate behavior in class.
A. Respect the
child’s dignity
D. Respect the
child’s
developmental
needs and quality
of life
E. Respect the
child’s motivation
and life views
F. Assure fairness
(equity and nondiscrimination)
and justice
A. Develop
prosocial
behavior, selfdiscipline, and
character
A. Promote
solidarity
Keep the child from embarrassing
himself in front of the class. The
teacher should be sensitive to the
child’s situation; perhaps there is
a problem in the house that is
causing him to sleep poorly. Talk
to him after class if you can.
Prevent making comparisons
between students because each
child learns in a unique way.
Always treat your students with
respect.
To avoid embarrassment, the
teacher should call the students’
attention after the online class to
discuss their incomplete activities
or during the lesson.
POSITIVE
Set a good example for your students.
POSITIVE

participation.
POSITIVE
This aids in establishing good classroom
management and focusing on the lesson.
NEGATIVE
Avoid passing judgment on students
who have not been intervened with.
NEGATIVE
Corporal punishment is not an option to any
misbehavior by students, and teachers are not
permitted to use physical force because it
violates the law of child protection policy.
Maintain and communicate high
expectations for your students and for yourself.
behavioral
Create clear rules and procedures and teach learners
how to follow them. Give primary level students, in
particular, a lot of instruction, practice and reassurance.

Teachers must constantly improve their students’
self-monitoring abilities and teach them how to
master their craft.
This ensures that the lesson is remembered by the
students.
Giving learners feedback and reinforcement
encourages them to study hard and participate

The teacher should assess his/her students fairly
in order to differentiate between average and
below average students.
