Street children There is no doubt that the present world is really concerned about children, to the point that they are overprotected by everybody, mostly in developed countries. The rights of the child state that every child has the right to education, play and recreation; they must be protected by their parents in a warm place where to live; adult people must not exploit them on the whole. They have the right to a childhood full of health, freedom, protection, and dignity. However, the real world is quite different for 100 million street children worldwide. They are victims of poverty or problematic families, and some of them are abandoned because they suffer from any kind of mental or physical illness. There is a big difference between street children and street-working children. Streetworking children make money by selling sweets and things. Then they go home. But street children have no home. They live and work on the streets. They sleep on the pavement and in bus shelters, they beg, steal or sell things to make a living. A few beg, sell flowers, tissues…, or clean shoes. Most of them live in group with other children. Their home is the street… and they are unloved, rejected, ignored, forgotten…
