Waveguide Cavities
Microwave Cavity Resonators
Microwave Cavity Resonators
 Cavities, or resonators, are used for storing
energy
 Used in klystron tubes, band-pass filters and
frequency meters
 It’s equivalent to a RLC circuit at high
frequency
 Their shape is that of a cavity, either
rectangular or cylindrical.
Microwave Cavity Resonators
Dominant Mode of Cavity Resonator
Within the waveguide cavity resonator,
various TEmnp and TMmnp modes exists.
The mode having the lowest resonant
frequency is known as “dominant mode”
