Chapter 33
1. What is Moose’s responsibility in chapter 33?
He has to make sure nothing will happen to Natalie that will affect
her during the Marinoff P. interview.
2. Why does Piper come over? What happens after she leaves?
She wants to say happy birthday to Piper. Natalie throws a fit
because she rips the moon.
3. Describe what happened when Natalie and Moose left the
house.
Natalie goes to talk to 105, and that puts Moose in an internal
dilemma. On one hand he is terrified of it and does not enjoy it and
on the other hand he feels like shes an actual normal girl with him.
Chapter 34
4. Who comes to Natalie’s birthday?
Piper.
5. How old is Natalie? What does Moose mean when he says, “I
walk back down the hill, the word we buzzing inside my head
like a fly in a small room.”
Natalie is 16. Moose wonders who was the other people wondering
what age Natalie was.
Chapter 35
6. This chapter is titled “The Truth” what truth does Moose want
revealed? How does his mom react? How does his dad react?
Moose wants to know ‘The Truth’ about Natalie’s age. His mom
argues that it is easier for her, but his dad agrees with him.
Chapter 36
7. How does Natalie do in her interview?
She did really good, and she even managed to say a joke.
8. Describe the conflict between Moose and his mother
throughout the book. How is this conflict partially resolved in
chapter 36?
She apologzies for what she’s been doing and that he is in the right,
but Moose still isn’t happy about how she didn’t tell Mr.Purdy
Chapter 37
9. What does the dialogue between Moose and Mrs. Kelly reveal
about Natalie? How does Moose react?
It is revealed that Moose means a lot to Natalie and this surprises
him.
10. What realization does Moose come to about his mother? Use
text evidence to support your answer.
Her actions are justified because he realizes that she just really loves
Natalie, and anyone would do the same.
Chapter 38-40
11. What is Moose’s plan?
He wants to give Capone a note to help his sister get into the Esther P.
Marinoff.
12. What news does Moose hear when he gets off the ferry? Why do
you think the Esther P. Marinoff suddenly opened a school for
older kids?
Natalie got in, and he knows it was the work of Al Capone.
