An interaction design technique to defer complexity and provide it on user request. When
applied to documentation, this technique begins with information that is embedded in the user
interface. It then provides links to additional information either within or outside of the product.
waterfall development.
A development methodology in which products are developed to meet established specifications,
and the specifications ideally do not deviate throughout the development process. Waterfall
development follows a sequential path in which each participating team completes their work
and hands it off to the next team. Contrast with agile development.
