Romero, Arjay S. May 06,2022 BSEd English 3B EL 308 REFLECTION EL 308 I want to start my reflection with this quotation “English is not a measurement of intelligence”, it is true somehow. Prescriptive grammar is only an instrument for classism and division, though it applies in academe, in publications incorporate, but those conditions are not relevant for everyone, especially for us Filipino, because English is not our first language. English was violently imposed on us through years of colonization and imperialism, so English is not a measurement of intelligence, but I believe it is the measurement of our capabilities. But grammar is still an important way of delivering your message. Grammar is a crucial life skill that has a profound impact on pupils' futures. Grammar instruction should indeed be mandated in schools so that students can obtain employment after graduating from high school; it can help people become even more decent, and it is an important aspect of effective communication. I believe that one of the hardest professions is to be a teacher, especially being an English Major. For today’s lesson I have learned the important of the English language and the grammar itself. That is why I ask myself if my capabilities and skills are enough to continue this, because I know for myself that my best to learn the English language was not enough considering that I am third year college now. Like what Sir Nataniel said last time “how would you teach your students the grammar, if you yourself do not know how to use it in a sentence or if you are conversing and communicating with others, especially professionals that you will meet. But I still want to continue this, not because I have 2 sems left before I graduated, but because I want to pursue what my younger self wants. I want to believe in myself. I want to inspire my students. I am grateful to be given this opportunity to study and be able to reach 3 rd year college and to acknowledge that I can be perfect, but the room for improvement and reformation is always there.
