The people experienced restriction of movements for fear of exposure to the dreaded virus whose tentacles claimed millions of lives worldwide. Because of this situation, both parents and learners have doubts whether to enroll their children or just stay at home and wait for the pandemic to subside. Furthermore, Learners education is one of the areas severely affected by Covid-19 Pandemic. Due to the absence of face-to-face classes it is believed that there will be educational back log of the country in the coming years. Hence, Lim-ao National High School through the guidance of the Leyte Division Office, The Regional Office VIII and the DepEd Central Office formulates that School Emergency Roadmap to pave the way for the implementation of Distant Learning Modality embodied in the BE-LCP or the Basic Education – Learning Continuity Plan of the School. It is the desire of the Adjusted School Handbook to guide the learners to gain information needed while pursuing secondary educational endeavors here in Lim-ao NHS. The various rules, regulations, policies, guidelines, school programs and other services during this pandemic will serve as a helpful tool design to help themselves cope the challenges in this present dispensation which leads them to achieve success. The Adjusted School Handbook was formulated due to the need to guide the learners and stakeholders on the appropriate conduct and behavior during this Covid- 19 Pandemic Phenomenon. The school shifted from face-to-face classes to distant learning modality in compliance with DepEd’s “Sulong Edukalidad” strategies where learners and parents choose Printed Modular Distant Learning Modality with video lessons as supplementary materials and online instructions or otherwise known as blended approach. It is expected that this adjusted handbook will provide learners the needed information, guidelines and observe strict regulations imposed by the local IATF / DOH/ DEPED for the safe conduct and implementation of blended learning modality until such time that limited face-to-face classes will be implemented. In the event that face-to-face classes will be implemented the school will be ready by then, due to the extensive preparations conducted by the school and its stakeholder for this eventuality using the School Safety Assessment Tool (SSAT). OBJECTIVES The Adjusted School Handbook for learners is geared towards addressing the possible circumstances based on the foregoing situations under the new normal: 1. Ensure healthy and safe learning environment for all learners, parents and teachers. 2. Ensure that teachers and learners are provided with learning resources aligned to curriculum standards and most essentials learning competencies. 3. Equip and encourage teachers to manage and deliver non-face-to-face alternative delivery modality. 4. Support vulnerable learners who may need special assistance. 5. Encourage learners, Teachers and Parents to observe minimum health and safety protocols set by local IATF on emerging disease. 6. Encourage learners and parents to follow religiously the rules and policies regarding the distribution and retrieval of learners’ packet and the conduct of quarterly school portfolio day. 7. Be informed on the new grading system under the new normal way of educational assessment. 8. Follow the School Safety Protocols in the event when the Limited and Expanded face-to-face classes will be implemented as stipulated by the School Safety Assessment Tool. Brgy. Learner’s Activities During the Pandemic Observe enrolment protocol through online or filing – up ESF Attend virtual or limited face to face orientation on the learning modality implemented by the school (per Barangay) Participate PABASA / PAKWENTA activities (per Barangay) Create a learning Space at home Retrieve answer seriously and return the teachers’ copy of the Learner’s Activity sheets on the date duly scheduled for Create at least a 1 meter x 5 meters or more plot bed for the “Gulayan sa Paaralan” initiative for sustainable supply of nutrition and fresh vegetables at home. Encourage parents to attend Parent-Teacher Chat every Portfolio Activities and Card – out day. Follow school Traffic Rules and obey signages upon the approval of the expanded face-to-face classes for Lim-ao National High School. Rules, Guidelines and Procedures in the Distribution and Retrieval of Learners Packet The Preparation of Learners’ Packet shall be done by the Teacher-Adviser and Subject Teachers. The Following are the Contents of the Learners’ Packet a. Weekly Home Learning Plan b. Learners Activity Sheets c. Class Schedule d. School Directory e. Other Learning Resources The Learners packet from each grade level and sections shall be deposited at the designated learners’ Hub in school The frequency of the distribution and retrieval of learners’ packet will be every two weeks in a row or otherwise change as need arise. Failure to submit the same at the appointed time will mean a delay of the computation of grades. Learners packet/ LAS not claimed will be available at the learners hub of the adviser. Only vaccinated learners/parents can retrieve and return the learners packet. Unvaccinated learners/parent shall present an updated negative result of antigen test every two weeks. For limited face-to-face classes, learners from Grade 7 and 8 Shall religiously follow the entrance and exit procedures to avoid contact with other learners. Contact tracing and health declaration forms for learners, Teachers and visitor shall be fully filled up and dropped at the box provided for. Brgy.
