Activity 1.4 The structural violence observed in the video and is common in rural areas is the little to no action against increased food waste produced. Common producers and users create surplus food that end up being thrown away. Every community may have experienced this problem due to mindlessness, or lack of attention from the leaders of their respective communities. Due to corruption and improper allocation of government budget, many rural areas experience inequality in terms of unequal access to job opportunities, food, education, and healthcare. Often the rich become richer, and the poor are neglected. This type of structural violence is common in rural areas where those in higher positions use money intended for helping the poor, by building their own riches out of the government’s pockets. Similar to what is shown in the video, people living in the slums are given less attention.
