“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.” -Brad Henry A TRUE PASSION IN TEACHING Teaching has always been considered a noble profession that requires great passion. Being a teacher in a far-flung area are more interesting story to tell. The challenges abound and one’s passion can truly be tested; I was assigned in a remote school in Capas Tarlac. I traveled one and a half hour to be in school. It was my first teaching experience and just looking at where I was in that moment, nothing but farmlands for miles that I can’t imagine. But I always believe that teaching is not just a profession, but a personal calling that God wanted me to do. Maruglo Elementary School caters three sitio’s namely Sitio Yanka, Sito Bilad, and Sitio Balatong. My team One Mesch need to travel two hours from Barangay Maruglo, hike up a mountain for another three hours or so, then cross the rivers, it’s a monthly monitoring routine joy and the team are happy to do, for love and dreams, and to continue providing the best education for our Indigenous Aeta students. More than recognition, my passion and love for a mission brings lifegiving hope needs continuous support. In times of challenges and struggles, I never give up. It always reminds me of the proverb, “Give a man a fish and he eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.” “To inspire people to never give up in helping those in need and to continue to touch hearts, nurture minds, and transform the lives of the young learners.” By: VILMA MELEGRITO SANTOS Teacher 1
