In general Benefits Description Overall maximum Maximum of 50,000 USD per person per lifetime Aim The plan covers reasonable and customary expenses of medical and hospital treatments directly resulting from COVID-19. Proof of a positive COVID-19 test must be provided. The plan only reimburses treatment, supplies or other services that are widely and generally accepted as medically necessary and appropriate for the condition being treated, and when such treatment, supplies or other services are prescribed by a licensed, qualified medical professional. Cigna has the fiduciary duty and discretionary authority to determine, on behalf of the World Bank Group, what constitutes a benefit or a covered service under the programme. Reasonable and customary Only reasonable and customary expenses are covered. This means that only fees and prices which are commonly charged for the treatment or purchase in question can be considered for reimbursement, taking into account the geographical area where the treatment is given or the item is purchased. Furthermore, the treatment or purchase must also be reasonable and customary from a medical point of view. This means, for example, that the number of treatment sessions/days of admission/dosage of medication should be medically justified. Any excesses in this regard will be limited to the reasonable and customary level. Eligibility The plan covers short-term staff members for medical expenses related to a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 in their designated duty stations. Dependents are not eligible for coverage. Coordination of benefits This plan is intended as a top-up for any remaining expenses following a positive COVID-19 diagnosis and will therefore always be secondary to other insurance plans, including social security or other similar plan or program (governmental or private). In case of intervention by another insurance, the plan will consider what the other plan has paid for a service and will apply the normal rules to reimbursement. However, coverage will be coordinated so it is possible for the claim to be covered 100% when processed by both plans. Only in case you do not have any other insurance programme, this plan will act as your primary insurance. Currency of reimbursement Cigna medical plan 24 April 2020 Claims will be reimbursed in USD or EUR. 5/14 Banking fees For international transfers, Cigna pays the banking fees charged by and until the intermediary bank. If the beneficiaries’ bank still charges a fee for international transactions to the member, this fee will be borne by the beneficiary of the money transfer. Claim submission deadline All claims must reach Cigna by December 31st, 2020 Outpatient treatment/outpatient surgery/day case Treatment given on an outpatient basis, where the date of admission is the same as the date of discharge. Inpatient treatment/hospitalisation Treatment given on an inpatient basis, where the date of admission differs from the date of discharge. Cigna medical plan 24 April 2020 6/14 2.
