SECTION B Information Transfer Read the text below and answer questions 1 to 10 The ostrich is the largest bird in the world that cannot fly. It can reach a height of 2.5 metres and weigh 150 kilogrammes. It has long featherless neck, a small flat head and large eyes. The legs are long with two toes on each foot. The ostrich cannot fly because it is too heavy and has small wings. However, it can run very fast - almost as fast as a horse and can reach about 75 kilometres an hour. When an ostrich runs, it flaps its wings. Ostriches live in the savannah which is an open, grassy and sandy area. They do not live in areas like deserts because they prefer to stay close to places which have water. Ostriches feed mainly on seeds, shrubs, grass, fruits and flowers. Occasionally, they also eat insects such as locusts. Since ostriches do not have teeth, they swallow gravel to grind their food. An adult ostrich can carry nearly one kilogramme of stones in its stomach. Complete the following graphic organiser. Choose not more than three words and/or a number from the text for each answer.
