In roman times, the fasces symbolized the power of magistrates representing union and accord to the french republic following the romans. The elephant of bastille The elephant of bastille was a monument in Paris which existed between 1813- 1846. The emperor Napoleon wanted to commemorate the site of the demolished bastille by putting the elephant in its spot. Hercules As you may know Hercules was known as a ancient greek hero who symbolized strength and power. But this symbol was used to represent the sovereign authority of the king over france. In french history the hercules symbol was used to declare power in france Women's dresses During the french revolution women's clothes showed more variation in skirts, which showed a more revolutionary style. This new and unique style of clothing showed the change of history the french were going through and were showing the spark of new ideas.
