YOU HAVE BEEN HIRED AS A RADIO JOCKEY WHO HAS BEEN ALLOTTED THE 4:30 AM SLOT, WHICH IS A NEWLY INTRODUCED SLOT, WITH A FAMOUS RADIO CHANNEL. THIS IS YOUR DREAM JOB WHERE YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO BE. YOU HAVE TO INTERACT WITH THE LISTENERS AND PLAY THEIR FAVOURITE MUSIC. SINCE ITS EARLY MORNING YOU HAVE NOT BEEN GETTING CALLS SINCE THE DAY YOU HAVE JOINED. IT’S YOUR 7TH DAY. IN 200 WORDS MENTION WHAT WOULD BE YOUR STRATEGY SO THAT PEOPLE ACTUALLY CALL AND INTERACT WITH YOU. As a newly-inducted Radio Jockey, the challenge of mustering an audience at 4:30am definitely requires building a formidable strategy. Firstly, I need to gain an intensive understanding of the demography that would constitute my potential ‘4:30am audience’ by conducting a survey between 4-6 am, through unstructured research and by interviewing peers/people in the vicinity. Hypothetically, my audience could range anywhere between walkers/joggers/runners and yoga enthusiasts to elderly people and night-time shift commuters. Besides interludes of innovative trivia between songs, my show could feature an ‘Early Risers Quiz’ which could have well-researched questions that cater to the audience with prizes for the winners. Sifting for relatable high quality content would be my priority such as interesting health-related stories, old nostalgic songs, workout music and the latest news. I would also feature a live interactive music segment called ‘Walking Down Memory Lane’ where I would have live local voices on air which people can easily connect and communicate with. Finding promotions that are fresh and aligned to the spirit and character of my show would resonate with my audience and compel them to stay tuned. This is a concise blueprint of how I plan to overcome this crisis and gain more listeners.
