Inappropriate eat eating patterns is usually the main cause for the problem which can result to bigger problems. I think that an adolescent nutrition should be taken in seriously as how we give importance to newborn’s or elderly nutrition. Teenagers engage into certain activities and state of minds that requires good and right nutrition. Obesity can hinder daily living activities and could cause mild to severe manifestations if some diseases particularly diabetes. Maybe we think that activeness equates to more food requirement in the body (because my mother also does this to us before-lets us consume as many as we can because she thinks that we needed it as youths), maybe it does, but a body needs particular set of nutrients not just any food. It is also stated in the article that there is a research that proves correlation between overweight parents and overweight children. This just goes to show how wrong food education can affect members of the family. This is why we should be more considerate of adolescent nutrition and make them as healthy as possible. People in those age are still growing and developing and healthy portions of appropriate food can support their growth and development. For this article it talks about problems in adolescent nutrition and ways how these gaps can be addressed and provide solution to this global underrated issue. Through adolescent period, the body changes, grows, and develops critically and nutrition plays a big role in bracing the person to those changes. Because of malnutrition, changes cannot be supported thus resulting to more physiological and mental problems. It was stated that to battle this, food supplements can take part in improving nutritional status, although this still needs thorough study about what specific food supplements, I agree that people of that age should be taking those to further make the body healthier. Youths should also have a good food avenue for healthy foods, for example school, schools should encourage and serve them food appropriate for their ages and activities. And lastly, education on pregnancy since it is also proven that nutrition while pregnant can have an effect to the child in long term. So, if we take in mind these solutions, we can eradicate, if not, we can decrease cases of adolescent malnutrition and have them live a better life- free of diseases. I believe that this should be led by local and national governments because this is still for the betterment of all and to achieve sustainable development. As humans we are aware that we need to eat so our body can produce energy we can consume for the day, however, everyone has different body types and set of activities. This articles shows some eating recommendations for adolescents. There is a lot listed, but most importantly, drinking water and avoiding sweetened drinks plays a big role in choosing healthy lifestyle as those drinks contains calories that can be excessive for the body. Furthermore, adolescents should be used to eating balanced meal and avoid fried foods. We may not realize it now but the food we intake will affect our future health. Of course these precautions can only be strictly followed with the guidance of the parents. This is why I think nutrition education should be accessible to both the child and the parents. This way, they can both understand its significance to their lives.
