Introduction: Building Proteins from RNA

The purpose of this lab was to explore the molecular process of building proteins from
the information carried by RNA. The question that we
ultimately tried to answer is, “How are
proteins built using the information provided by a molecule of RNA?” The hypothesis is
if RNA
determines the sequence of amino acids in proteins and polypeptides by a two
step process,
then translation of the mRNA to
tRNA takes place at the ribosome in the cytoplasm
