Collecting a specimen can hurt you if you are not very careful. A healthcare professional will observe you with collecting your specimen. If you feel pain at any time during your collection, then stop and notify the onsite healthcare professional. If at any time during your collection you get a bloody nose or feel a lot of pain, then please stop and notify the onsite healthcare professional. Do not use the fluid in the specimen transport tube to wet the swab, or to lube your nostrils, or drink the fluid. If the swab touches anything but the inside of your nose, please contact the healthcare professional on site. The swab is intended for one-time single person use. Do not share the swab. If you feel faint or dizzy, notify the onsite healthcare professional and do not drive your car. 2 Open the swab collection peel pouch and remove the swab, holding by the white handle. Identify the collar/ safety stopping point and the breaking point. Position head back slightly. 3 ■ ■ 4 Gently insert swab into the LEFT nostril until the collar/safety stopping point touches the outside your nose. As a guide, the swab should be pointed in the direction of your left ear. PACKAGE THE SAMPLE 5 ■ ■ 6 While holding the swab, remove the cap from the tube. Insert the swab into the tube, continuing to hold by the handle. Break the swab at the break point, throw the swab handle in your personal garbage and recap the tube. ■ ■ When the swab is in place, rotate in a circular motion 2 times and then keep it there for 15 seconds. Remove the swab from nostril and repeat steps on your RIGHT nostril, removing the swab when finished. 7 Place the tube into the specimen bag and seal the bag. Wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer as soon as you are able.
