Is the barcode provided by suppliers?
A barcode represents the data in a visual form that
can be easily read by machines. Most buyers,
especially the ones who do not have much idea
about the barcode readers or how they are
provided, wish to know about their origin.
Before you begin to look for the answer to this
question, you need to know a thing or two about
barcodes. They are of different types, so a lot
depends on the type of barcode for which you
want to know the answer.
If you think about the various kinds of barcodes
that exist at present, ou will end up with a long list
of such codes. To simplify matters for your
understanding, you can divide them into categories
rather than dealing with the longer list. Broadly,
you can classify them into 1D and 2D.
On average, barcode labels manufacturers provide
the UPC barcode. However, in other cases,
suppliers may also provide some barcodes. Again,
this depends on the type of barcode in question.
From the standpoint of 1D and 2Ds, UPCs belong
to the former group.
More often than not, it is the manufacturers of
barcodes who provide them to suppliers along with
the list of the products. Suppliers or retailers may
also provide them but only in special cases.
