It is a comedy; it is only Shakespearean play that include on
Induction: are made for introductory purpose. In taming of the shrew,
Shakespearean wrote the induction scenes (2 scenes) as a frame story
to introduce the idea of the deception and disguise.
Induction scenes: C.S: fake wife, affected his thinking, good cloth, servants, lord friends,
good bed, banquet (food).
-A beggar when treated as a lord thought
-Or believed he is actually a lord with a memory loss
-Purpose of the induction scene:
It made to deliver the message that a person; environment and the way
people treat him / her determines his / her behavior.
Characters:
-Christopher sly – a tinker, beggar, he is a clumsy + trouble maker.
-Lord – a vain aristocrat who has fun manipulating other people.
-Page boy – the pretended wife of sly.
-Lucentio and his servant tranio arrive in Padua. Lucentio, madly in love
with Bianca, decides to disguise himself as a teacher for Bianca to
eventually win her heart. Meanwhile, tranio will dress as Lucentio and
attend university.
-Lucentio: handsome young man of wealth; combo when Bianca.
-Trancio: Lucentio’s servant, masquerades as a Lucentio.
Purpose: to introduce the audience to the concept or idea of deception
man,
pulation + disguise.
Message: a person way of behaving or thinking is affected by the
atmosphere he lives in + the way people treat him.
Evidence: 1- batiste loves both his daughters. he is supportive, caring,
and loving, yet his favorite daughter is Bianca. Although he treats both
daughters equally, yet he feels ashamed and irritated from Katherine.
He doesn’t like her aggressive and impolite manners + attitude end
considers her a shrew. Katherine, on the other hand can scenes how
her dad feels, accordingly, she counties be having shrewdly as way to
vent out disappoint and anger.
-Setting: pauda -Italy
-Babtista: father, rich man, caring, kind, understanding but his favorite
daughter is Bianca because, she is swatter, mild, and doesn’t cause
embarrassment on troubles.
- Katherine: ill-mannered bad-tempered tents to cause troubles and has
a reputation of being a devil, or a shrew, although very beautiful, yet no
one wants to marry her.
-Bianca: seems to be sweet, submissive, and agreeable. She is her
daddy’s favorite. she had a lot of suitors waiting for her.
-Hortensio, Gremio(older): want to marry Bianca (suitors).
-Hortensio: has a friend called Petruchio, petruccio, protagonist, he is
from pisa, Italy, his family is rich, he come to pauda to marry rich girl
with a, germio: gentleman, grumio: rich dad so that he would get a
large drawy in order to be able to start his own business.
Lucentio: scholar from pisa. he studied in Florence then came to pauda
to complete his studies.
His servant is tranio: a very clever person who always wise advices to
his master Lucentio.
- Lucentio falls in love with Bianca once he saw her, he plans with
tranio. Lucentio will disguise himself as a language teacher to be
able to spend some time with Bianca to make her love him.

-Hortensio platted with his best friend petruccio that petruccio would
marry the rich Katherine, take good drawy and stand to his own
business. Petruccio agreed and even said that he enjoys a good
challenge.
Disguise:
-Sly = lord

-Tranio= Lucentio
-Hortensio=Music teacher
-Hortensio: suitors for Bianca
-Gremio: suitors for Bianca(older)
-Lucentio: scholar, from pisa, Italy studied in Florence and pauda, falls
in love with Bianca, will plan with tranio to disguise himself as a
language teacher to be able to woo Bianca, tranio will become Lucentio
to distract Batista.
Tranio: wise clever advice (servant for Lucentio).
Hortensio/petruccio (best friends).
Grumio: servant for petruccio.
A good wife whose father would pay a large drawy so that he would be
able to start his own business.
2nd plan, petruccio will marry Katherine no matter how shrew is she is
getting a good dowry, and tome Katherine. By this he will give
Hortensio a chance to propose to Bianca. Hortensio will disguise
himself a music teacher to be able to woo Bianca.
Lucentio this master and tranio the servant hales a very friendly and
caused relationship, they once have a fanny disagreement about the
word ‘’knock’’ Lucentio wanted tranio to ‘’knock’’ the door and tranio
though that he is asking him to know him down (hit him).
3people want to marry Bianca (Hortensio, gremio, Lucentio)
The only willing to marry Katherine is petruccio 2 reasons (money, good
challenges).
Taming: causing to be better milder, and gentle.
Shrew: an ill-mannered bad-tempered woman.

A Lord A gentleman who delights in duping Sly after he finds him
passed out on his property.
A page, servants, huntsmen All work for or with the Lord to dupe Sly.
Baptista Minola The father of Katherine and Bianca.
Katherine Minola Elder daughter of Baptista Minola. She is hardheaded, stubborn, and prone to speaking her mind. Baptista decrees
that as the elder daughter, Kate must marry before her younger sister
Bianca may do so.
Bianca Minola Younger daughter of Baptista Minola. Bianca is loved by
Gremio, Hortensio, and Lucentio but cannot have serious suitors or
marry until her older sister Katherine has done so. Bianca is clearly
Baptista's favorite daughter, although she may not be as sweet as she
appears.
Petruchio Through his friend Hortensio, he learns of Katherine and
agrees to wed her (for her dowry).
Hortensio A suitor to Bianca.
Lucentio. He is in love with Bianca
Tranio A servant to Lucentio.
Gremio A foolish old man; suitor to Bianca.
Grumio Petruchio's servant.
