1. Which of the model do you consider is suitable on the following situations: (Justify your
choice)
A. A company with diverse talents, competent and skilled workers
System Model would be suitable in this situation because this model recognizes the
talents, potential, and goals of individual workers. Diverse talents, competent, and skilled
workers are being considered in System Model so that individual goals and organizational
goals are balanced and will be attained.
B. An organization that needs a definite set of rules and policies to be strictly implemented
and complied
Autocratic Model would be suitable in this situation. The approach of this model is
dictatorship and authority. Since definite set of rules and policies should be strictly
implemented and complied, Autocratic Model would be appropriate because
employees need to abide with the rules and obedience should be performed.
C. A high paying job whose position depends on the satisfaction of the CEO
Autocratic Model would also be suitable for this. In this model, the CEO or the boss have
the power and authority with regards to their employees’ position in the organization and
their wages. A highly paid job would only depend on the satisfaction of the CEO when
their demands or commands are obeyed. Also, performance will reflect the amount of
wage that an employee will receive.
D. An organization where its advocacy is shared by its people
Collegial and System Model are both suitable for this. These two are similar because they
both practice collaborative work of its people to attain common goal. The advocacy of
the organization are shared by the involvement of its people. In Collegial Model,
everybody worked as colleagues. Managers are also considered as joint contributors. In
this way, everybody is participating for their advocacy. On the other hand, System Model
also practiced the partnership among managers and employees in order to achieve
their aims. The advocacy is also shared by the people in the organization.
E. Workers are basically concerned with their immediate needs
Custodial Model is appropriate in this situation. In this model, the workers depend on the
organization and the security and satisfaction it provides to them. Workers, especially
those who are concerned with their immediate needs, will stay at the organization as
long as they provide good welfare and development programs to them. Workers are
secured and are receiving better benefit as long as the organization is doing well.
2. What organizational model have you been exposed to in your previous engagement?
I have been introduced and exposed to Collegial Model before. In our school group work
where collaboration and brainstorming should be performed by the members, Collegial
Model is also being practiced in that situation. Every one of us worked as colleagues
where we share the common goal and that is to come up with a group project that
requires team work, involvement, and conceptualization of ideas among each
members. It ignited the team spirit of our group, just like in Collegial Model. I was also
exposed with System Model in my younger years. In our school journalism, our capabilities
and skills were considered so that they would determine what type of journalism would
suit our skills. I was designated as the photojournalist due to my interest in photography
while my other peers were also given their own roles. This situation would suit System
Model because our individual skills were recognized and different tasks were assigned to
us and soon compile our works in order to achieve our common goal and that is to make
school newspaper.
3. As a future leader, which among the models would you practice? Why?
I would practice and implement the System Model. As a leader, it is my duty to determine
the strength, weaknesses, skills, capabilities, and the overall structure of the organization
and the employees. Diversification of individuals should be considered so that their
talents and skills will be maximized and put into good use. With skilled workers knowing
their capacities and roles, individual and organizational goals will be attained. It will also
create a harmonious relationship among each other and positive work environment
because they have a common goal to achieve. This model practices the partnership
between leaders and employees and with this, each individual will feel that they equally
important and beneficial to the prosperity of the organization.
