Angelo, Christianne Sophia B. BSRT1A Activity 1 1. Why does thinking that you are ugly bad for you? We live in a world where poor self-esteem is epidemic, and the media constantly tells us that we must look a specific way. As a result, we are often way too harsh on ourselves and classify ourselves as ugly. It has an impact on almost every part of our lives, from how we perceive ourselves to how we think about and respond to life situations. When negative ideas and thoughts are dominant, whether generated by ourselves or by others, it has a detrimental impact on how we feel about ourselves. This can lead to poor self-esteem, which can negatively impact a person's life in a variety of ways. Low self-esteem, if left unchecked, can lead to mental health problems. Aside from that, when you begin to think that you are ugly, self-doubt regarding other aspects of your life will begin to hinder you from being better. 2. Why do you have to “kiss the mirror”? Looking in the mirror is often associated with narcissism or feelings of inadequacy, yet learning to view oneself in the mirror can help you develop self-compassion and emotional resilience. Mirrors can elicit intense emotions in us, but they can also be extremely effective instruments for shifting our viewpoint and revealing aspects of ourselves that are often hidden when we gaze out into the world. The mirror has the potential to become a strong reflector of our own anguish and pain. However, kissing the mirror teaches us to love ourselves, especially the beauty of our scars, which remind us of our strength. It gives us a view that we couldn't have from within our heads. We have a way of seeing ourselves that is frequently too raw and vulnerable to share with others. When you look in the mirror, you will undoubtedly be overwhelmed with feelings of compassion and gratitude for how much you do and how hard you strive. By taking time to kiss the mirror, you will come to realize that you're worthy of love and compassion.
