The foreign policy of Mexico
Since 1871 same-sex sexual acts are legal along with the equal age of
consent. Mexico has recognised and on a continuous path on abolishing all
hate crimes related to this field when in 1979 the first pride parade took
place in Mexico.
In 2003 the Mexican Chamber of Deputies unanimously passed a national
anti-discrimination law that included sexual orientation as a protected
category, established a new agency to enforce the antidiscrimination law,
and developed a national anti-homophobia campaign.
In 2006 Mexico City legalized same-sex civil unions. Article 4 of the law
defines discrimination as:
Every distinction, exclusion or restriction based on ethnic or national origin,
sex, age, disability, social or economic status, health, pregnancy, language,
religion, opinion, sexual preferences, civil status or any other, that impedes
recognition or enjoyment or fights and real equality in terms of opportunities
for people.
Since 2010, recognition of same-sex couples is legalised
On 28 November 2011, the first two same-sex marriages occurred in
Quintana Roo after it was discovered that Quintana Roo's Civil Code did
not explicitly prohibit same-sex marriage.
Also In 2011, the Mexican Constitution was amended to prohibit
discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation
As of Now Mexico has allowed the access to IVF for lesbians and hope that
in coming days it strengthens it's value to provide a safe heaven for each
and every human being irrespective of their sexual orientation
