This position promotes a student-centered learning experience by creating a supportive learning environment for academic and personal success and growth. The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) is an educator who works to provide direction for student learning and academic success by managing/co-managing a residence hall and coordinating the administrative, supervisory, and programmatic e orts for a particular residence hall or area. As a live-in sta member, the Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for creating a safe and secure environment. Ensuring the development of comfortable living and learning communities that foster academic success. Responsible for the management of the residence life program including the daily operations of university housing facilities, crisis management, and crisis response. Responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, and supervising a team of Resident Assistants; developing a cohesive and professional team. Manages routine, critical, daily, and seasonal administrative tasks. Responsible for the management of his/her building or area; coordinating health and safety inspections on a weekly basis. Responsible for maintenance and housekeeping concerns/requests. Facilitate positive interpersonal relationships within the residential community. Responsible for housing sanctions, and follow-ups as needed. Responsible for developing and maintaining a workable system of communication with the sta and students utilizing housing platforms/systems and StarRez. Work with individual students in the resolution of personal, social, or academic problems. Create and implement social, recreational and educational programming, including the planning and implementing of such programs within the residential hall. Maintain security, health, re, and safety standards. Responsible for scheduling shifts to ensure sta coverage in residential hall or area, completing reports, including, but not limited to, health/safety inspections, compliance reporting and incident reports. Serve on department committees as assigned. Responsible for the hiring, selection, and training of residential assistants. Develop, provide, and participate in educational sta development and training experiences for sta on an on-going basis. Facilitate regular sta meetings. Updates the Director of Housing regularly of any and all incidents, issues, concerns, and property damage. Exercise independent judgment with matters related to resident compliance with University rules and regulations. All other duties as assigned. One to two years prior residence life, student a airs, or related experience. Knowledge and experience in Microsoft O ce programs. Previous experience in the areas of programming planning and implementation, supervision, and crisis management. Basic understanding of Title IX concerns as it relates to the residential student population. Basic knowledge of report writing. Environmental and Physical Conditions: Occasional evening and weekend work is required (on-call). Working environment in a normal business o ce setting. Demands normal manual dexterity and visual auditory acuity. Typically, the incumbent may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items.
