The main focus of the poem was the unexpected visit of a raven to the narrator-s house. The bird serves
as a constant reminder to the narrator of the death of his true love and the sadness that it brings him. It
is left unclear if the bird literally came to his doorstep or the narrator was making it up.
Some might say the raven was real because of how the narrator described it, from its color to its
feathers. A raven is also a very common animal, so they might think it could still happen.
These people may think because of the setting, a raven could be found in the narrator 's house, which is
dark and old.
Others might say the raven was not real because of the unlikeliness of all those events happening and
how the raven could speak.
I think the narrator was imagining the raven. There are many aspects of the story that seem too
unrealistic or not likely to happen. The narrator was also on a very dark place at the time. These and
other fantastical factors led me to believe the bird was created by the narrator himself.
First, the narrator is clearly weak. He says he spends his time thinking about Lenore, who was once
someone special to him. I think Lenore was his girlfriend or wife. The author is clearly not over her death,
which could lead him to an unstable mental health.

Raven by Edgar Allan PoeDeath is something that is feared yet wondered about. It’s a topic of
conversation most people like to avoid discussing, especially if they have gone through a loss themselves.
Fear and loneliness is felt with Edgar Allan Poe’s poem The Raven. Poe was able to achieve these two
feelings by describing the night, raven and mentioning the name of a loved one. I believe these feelings
are a reflection of Poe’s feelings himself. These feelings are deep and depressing in to the soul and they
can make the reader feel the anxiety vibe in the poem. It also reflects how many people might feel when
losing a loved one; feeling the desire of one day reunite with that person at least in heaven. Poe utilizes
allusions and abstract wording throughout the poem to continue giving those beautifully haunting
feelings.
