Hi Lumwil, hope you're doing well. L Thanks! Likewise. Thank you for patiently waiting. Just to confirm, you are having issues about? Kindly save this case number 41313404 as a reference for this chat. I understand how important this is for you. Rest assured that I will help you find solution or options to resolve this concern. Lumwil A 8:45 PM My question is regarding the necessity of having a working Course ID. L I see. Thanks for the question. Are you trying to register to a course? Lumwil A 8:46 PM I am, under Mastering Engineering. But here's my dilemma, and it's one I've ran into for years, but I've never understood why that was the case, and I'm praying that either circumstances have changed, or perhaps you Lumwil will be able to come up with a creative workaround solution. 8:48 PM Sure, may I know the main concern? 8:48 PM So basically, I would like to be able to purchase (full price) and use a semester's Access Code for a Mastering Engineering course like Dynamics. My motivation might seem strange, but it involves no need for any credit of my work to show on any transcript or the like. Pearson has amazing problems and ways to force the student to think critically, while also offering explanations that create true learning. So therefore, I simply want to be able to essentially pay and "take the course", without actually being technically in that exact course in the same moment. 8:52 PM Because without providing a Course ID from a current instructor, the system will not allow me to buy the Access Code for the Mastering program. I see. Thanks for letting me know. Alright! Let me explain the details for the course id. 8:53 PM And so, I'm not looking for any discount at all. I simply want to be able to pay for access to Mastering programs like any other student, without actually being in the course. And I've never understood why course attendance is necessary, if I'm willing to buy the product anyway. 8:54 PM L I understand what you meant. In regards to the course id, it will depend if you will need it or not. Example would be: 1. If you do register directly to Pearson's website for a course, you will need this to be able to see the options for the access code and register to the course. 2. Course Id will not be needed if you will register to the course using the school's website learning management systems like: Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle or Brightspace. 3. Other option b not needing a course id would be for the self study. Lumwil A 8:56 PM so the self study is an option i noticed tonight for the first time, and it seemed very promising, but I hit a roadblock because I'm 90% sure it ended up asking me for a course ID. Unless I'm mistaken and did something wrong. 8:58 PM Also, I tried your option 2: but still needed to enter a course ID I see. Thanks for letting me know. There would be additional details in regards to the self study. Not all courses or materials are offering it. 8:59 PM L Let me look for the link here. Lumwil A thank you very much, save me the trouble. I have SO MANY links open haha L You're very much welcome. Looking for the correct link that is working here. Lumwil A 9:00 PM take your time, no worries. thank you for the help Thanks! 9:02 PM L Can you try this link: https://mlm.pearson.com/northamerica/masteringengineering/students/getregistered/self-study-registration/index.html and let me know if it will work. Lumwil A will do 9:03 PM L Thanks! Lumwil A 9:03 PM just to be 100%, im going with "mastering is NOT necessary for my course"? 9:04 PM just because, obviously, what I do want is to work on Mastering problems Are you planning to register for a self study or with a professor? it would be self study Alright! It should be the same as the Mastering Engineering course. You will be the one selecting the book material for that link. 9:06 PM I do have another option that might help you with the access purchase too. 9:06 PM L Since the purchasing is under the Customer service department. You can try coordinating the said book details and access purchase with them through this link: https://support.pearson.com/getsupport/s/contactsupport by selecting the following: Country>English> College Student> Price & Availability or Place an Order as the last option. Lumwil A 9:07 PM that's great that there's another option! we'll call it option B. But for now, let's finish the steps you had set out to try to make option A work. sound good? L Alright! That's great! Lumwil A 9:08 PM so when you said "Alright! It should be the same as the Mastering Engineering course. You will be the one selecting the book material for that link." did you mean to select the "mastering IS required", or "mastering IS NOT required", when I open the link you sent 9:09 PM https://mlm.pearson.com/northamerica/masteringengineering/students/getregistered/self-study-registration/index.html this one That will be the registration link for the Mastering Engineering Self Study. What I meant is that you will be the one to select what kind of book you will purchase and register for your self study. It should not require you the course id. 9:11 PM Please do select the one in the right side. The one saying "Mastering is not required for my course.". 9:13 PM perfect!!! thank you haha that's exactly what I needed to know haha That would only mean that it will not require you for a Mastering Course ID. L You're welcome. Lumwil A I CONCEPTUALLY understand that, but I've clicked all kinds of links thinking, and being very surprised at what the next page needed. that's why I reached out to ya haha 9:14 PM Understandable. Pearson has lots of products and sites, especially links to look for. May I know what book are you selecting? 9:16 PM ok, so it's asking if I have an access code or if I need one, and clearly i still need one. so thats the way to go? 9:17 PM honestly Lumwil, I'm not sure what textbook yet hahaha I just want to brush up on some mechanical engineering subjects, so I was going to see what's available, and go from there. Kindly do follow these steps: https://mlm.pearson.com/northamerica/masteringengineering/students/getregistered/self-study-registration/index.html this link then select The location like US on the right side. It should direct you to the page where it will ask you to purchase the access code or input one. Alright! In that case you might need to select that you will purchase. 9:18 PM L To browse the available materials. Lumwil A 9:18 PM that's exactly what I'm doing. will be able to stay connected with me for at most 5 minutes while I browse and decide, please? 9:21 PM L Sure. Please do make sure to keep me posted every 2 minutes interval. Lumwil A 9:21 PM Hi Lumwil, what is Learning Catalytics? 9:24 PM Hello. Learning Catalytics will be the other product of Pearson that can also be used as tools for additional learnings. https://www.pearson.com/us/higher-education/products-servicesteaching/learning-engagement-tools/learning-catalytics.html you can use this link for your preference for the Learning Catalytics. 9:25 PM Hmm, while Learning Catalytics seems very beneficial for a student taking a course, it seems that for my unique situation, I wouldn't get much value out of that. But good to know, thank you for that link 9:27 PM You're welcome. It is a pleasure for me to assist you. I am glad that I was able to help you with your concern. Aside from explaining the details for self study, course id and options for providing you the registration link for self study and purchase options for the access code, is there anything else I can help you with? 9:28 PM so I've picked the textbook, and am going through the process of filling in necessary information. could I please ask you to stay connected with me a little longer, in case an unforeseen issue does come up? please 9:30 PM L Sure. Thanks for the updates. Kindly do make sure to input all details correctly and manually. Avoid to not click the cancel, back or close button for us to avoid the system to temporarily lock your account that will be registered. Lumwil A thanks for the advice! 9:32 PM You're welcome. 9:32 PM okay, so it looks like I'm one click away from completing the order, which is $65 for just the MasteringEngineering access of the book. 9:34 PM Thanks for the updates. So with this purchase, I would be able to do end of chapter problems, resetting them with new values for extra practice, and most come with an explanation of the answer? 9:35 PM L Yes, you can do all those since it is a self study. Might as well check for the in-course material guides. Lumwil A or at minimum a reference to the section in the book where the solution can be understood? L It will all be handed down to the materials and access that you purchased. There are guides also inside your course material. Lumwil A and these "in-course material guides" are only accessible once you buy access to MasteringEngineering, correct? 9:36 PM L Yes, that is correct. Lumwil A okay, this all sounds fantastic! Great! 9:37 PM so one last question for you Lumwil, and thanks SOOO much for your help. i would assume there is a 7 or 14 day return policy associated with this purchase correct? just in case once I actually get in there, it's not what I had in mind. 9:38 PM Great question. You're very much welcome. There is a refund policy or return policy. Kindly do check the email order confirmation details when you successfully purchased the access. It will provide you the details there. The details that might be connected from our option B. With the customer service in regards with any purchase or refunds, you might select the Refunds itself for the last option that I provided earlier. 9:40 PM It is a pleasure for me to assist you. I am glad that I was able to help you with your concern. Aside from assisting and providing you all the details and options for the registration and answered your inquiries, is there anything else I can help you with? 9:41 PM You have gone above and beyond Lumwil, and I truly appreciate your help. And thanks to your effort, you have at least 1 more customer, because I was about ready to give up. I just need 1 FINAL request from you, please. Can you please email me the transcript of our entire conversation. There is a lot of useful information you provide and I want to be able to access, and it'd be a terrible shame if your advice went to waste. 9:44 PM L Thanks! For the transcript. I am afraid it will not be accommodating for the email, however you do have the option to save the transcript on your end once the chat ends. Just simply navigate to the chat menu on your screen. Lumwil A my email is andressahagun@gmail.com L It should have you the option to download and save a copy.
