MARY JANE C. GONZALES BSABE 2 – 3 QUIZ 1 IN SOCSCI 1100 Choose and conceptualize a certain theory/ies and explain why do we need to study history. History curves the underlying principle that institutes our society in many aspects to engage in major changes and development, which results in prosperity and innovation. Political, social, economic, scientific, technological, medical, cultural, intellectual, religious and military developments are all part of history; these are all aspects of human society that history manages to evolve over time. History is the study of life in society in previous years. Thus, it is quite necessary to have a deep understanding concerning these events, no matter how tragic or magical it were. Studying history does not only affect the society we live in, but it also affects our moral understanding; this could be a hopeful prospect that provides a driving force to obtain character development by reflecting on someone else’s story. History is not all about the extraordinary people who manage to execute systems, ideologies or technologies. But, the ones who are merely living and giving meaningful impact to the world that influence people on resisting oppression. It is crucial to remember in our minds and hearts that we cannot be someone we wanted today if it was not because of history. The historians who started from scratch, constantly writing about the entire occurrence in the past are all the ones we should be grateful for, because they knew that the past could change the present and will help us to have a better future. “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” We study history to deprive the chance of committing the same mistakes all over again. In the past events, certain problems arise from uncertainties, which manage to solve, and through which place a suppression. History tells us what we should do when we deal with these kinds of problems; it also serves as a test of our knowledge and lessons we learned from past events based on the approaches we will use once we encounter these dilemmas. History repeats itself indeed, once we neglect the truth and value of history. Imagine if you faced battles or challenges you certainly had no idea about, it would be tiring and endless finding of solutions with those. We need to study history to defy being stuck and keep moving forward in living, because we crave change to obtain equality
