2. governance structure of Renault-Nissan partnership was that Nissan has 15% of Renault stake
And Renault have more stake in Nissan than controversary. The reason of this structure was that
they had different motivations. Nissan was suffering a lot at the time why they formed this alliancethey were out of business because of poor business performance. And Renault needed to increase
size through global expansion, and they wanted to get into US market wanted to learn automobiles
differ from who are doing from Japanese Renault want to learn lean producing way of Japna which
is differ from any other countries, and wanted to learns from Toyota-but Toyota had no reason to
allow other countries. Instead, Nissan had knowhow of lean producing and they wanted to get out
of low performance-so the two companies made partnership(alliance). Structure was like purchasing
was same, R&D was same, in case of manufacturing Renault did more than Nissan, and in case of
distribution, Renault did more than Nissan. I think partnership would not work out well if its strucrue
was different because this kind of structure is well consisted for both companies as mentioned
before, they can have different benefits through alliance and the structure that the stake they have
different makes them than Renault can be affected more by Nissan than Nissan can be affected by
Renault. Therefore, if it was differently structured, it would not have been worked out well.
